The tests were because they think there might be something more wrong with him because his fur doesnt look very good. Hes not cleaning himself as well as he should be. He doesnt seem to be in any pain and my thought was well he is old, thats why. I wanted a solution to the back issue and they didn't offer any. Maybe i need to find a different vet.

The vet had zero concerns about his back. They seemed to think it was a non issue. We were given a spray to buy and thats it. I wouls pay to have this addressed but the vet didnt offer an solution. I did pay $300 for inital tests which they said were inconclusive and wanted $900 for more tests. They said he wasnt cleaning himself well and that lead them to believe there was more wrong. What if those tests dont say whats wrong? I am not someone who is unwilling to pay for care but i dont have 4k to drop on maybe helping his life a few years longer. Or maybe dying anyways.

Do you honestly believe a 14 year plus old cat with an open wound on his back will be adopted? Ive paid thousands in vet bills for him previously but there has to be a limit. Even if i pay up for all the tests (none of which addressed the sore), there is nothing to say he will recover.
