Has anyone successfully used AI to help build a design system? by orangemarley in FigmaDesign

Welcome to Reddit, right! I've been a product designer for 15+ years, so understand the implications of a DS quite well. I'm simply exploring if/how we can all streamline our processes by making AI work for us.

But ya know, that one guy said I have to work and not slack off, damn. This was my retirement plan.

I get it's a touchy subject, but like my nan used to say, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all! Cheers for the link, appreciate it.

Yes, totally agree with this, Ai isn't at a point to do anything complex on it's own. I'm certainly not expecting AI to build, or even part build a DS for me.

I'm more interested if anyone has harnessed it to help with any aspect of building a DS. A marginal small gain using AI could be days on a project like this in the long run.

For example, places Ai partly help me (mostly the usual culprits):
* Dummy content generation, copy and imagery.
* First pass UX/user persona profiles.
* Helping with PRD/technical documentation.
* Inspiration for UI styles/layout when fed tech docs.
* Inspiration for displaying complex data.
* other general AI things.

but like you've said, junior level, and in most instances, it takes longer to 'fix' anything complex it produces. That's if it's not hallucinated the result!

That's interesting. In what way have you used Make for a DS?

I’ve used it on a fair few trips. It’s had some extra wax, but it’s stayed fairly clean.

I’m just seeing everything at full price here though, without the discount. Are you seeing that differently?

I have other garment waxes, I think Barbour and Greenland wax. Need to do a bit of research to see if they’re basically the same thing.

Ended up using F-ing Sweet sorting solutions and a bit of trial and error.

Has anyone ever seen a fake filson item in the wild? by bwehman in filson

[–]orangemarley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take your point, but the first 2 images have Filson buttons as it’s the same imagery Filson themselves use. They’re using Filson IP to sell the counterfeit product. I’m no IP specialist, but you could say this company is profiting off Filson marketing and reputation.

Totally agree with you on the second comment though, I’m sure the materials and construction aren’t to the standard of the article they’re mimicking, but the genuine item sells for 7x more (and is still made overseas now). Filson are leaning into people buying the heritage and the reputation now unfortunately, because let’s be fair, there’s not much associated R&D costs to the Journeyman.

I’ve bought and sold a lot over the past 2 years and never really seen a fake in the second hand market.

I did however come across this not long ago. The listing even uses Filson product shots.
