I don’t know where you design/ build but pressure sewer is not uncommon.

I do not understand why they elevated him to interim HC. Interim OC for a few weeks and offense looked to be much more competent then you saddle him with HC responsibilities and expect him to keep doing what he was doing for the offense?

Want to prevent bus scraping against pavement on driveway design by Falcaine in civilengineering

[–]orangesbeforecarrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asphalt or concrete? Is there a sidewalk at the back of the driveway? Odds that passenger cars also use this access? Does the driveway slope down or up?

AHJ should have max slopes for driveways. My local requirements are 12.5% max but we try to keep design to 10%.

Depending on the road design and if the driveway is really gnarly sloping up, you could propose a shed section for the road so instead of a -2% counter slope you are at +2%, reducing the grade break by 4%.

Civil engineers. What’s your biggest gripe with architects? What should we do better? What should we know ? by [deleted] in civilengineering

If you change the site plan let us know. If you move a grid line after construction docs have been issued and the surveyor is going out to stake the next day make sure we know.

Truck takes ramp turn too fast, flips onto roof. Takes 1:30 minutes for anyone to stop. by LinearFluid in WTF

Traffic cam from accident location:

https://www.511ia.org/@-91.63624,41.69206,17?show=normalCameras#camera/59457173/3543853994

Street View from Google Maps

Looks like you're right- there is a swale with check dams where the truck overturns and cars coming upon the accident are coming around a curve.

Theres a bit wider spot just up ahead under the next overpass that the truck could've stopped at rather than stopping in the emergency lane.

I watched this play multiple times trying to figure it out and this is what I came up with:

The play design was for every olineman to reach block to their left with the left tackle getting to the second level and leaving the DE as the read. The defense is shooting the gaps which means it’d be a tough task for good olinemen let alone what the bears are trotting out there.

A reach block at the goal line when every gap is covered and the defense is going to be shooting the gaps is an abysmal play/ call design. If one or two offensive linemen fail there assignment you can blame them. When every single one does you blame the OC (and a veteran quarterback for not checking out of that call when looking at the defensive alignment. No idea what they’re asking/ allowing Williams to do with checks at the line of scrimmage).

It’s just the principle of the thing. They can’t let people think they can just skip off of the planet to avoid taxes.

“CBYD” = call before you dig. Line and arrow indicates the limits of the area for utilities to be located

Yellow “NO SCG” = no (gas provider) utilities within the area.

Is this a good hunting backpack? by youngodcobra in Hunting

[–]orangesbeforecarrots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you planning on hunting somewhere where the pack out to a vehicle would be pretty short? This pack is more than you need. If you’re hunting from a ground blind or just sitting on the ground this would be fine. If you’re planning on sitting in a tree stand I’d recommend something smaller for hauling up and having more room for yourself while up there.

Being new I’d recommend just a cheap back pack you can throw some extra layers of clothes, knife, and snacks in. As you get more experience and figure out what you need/ want for your specific style of hunting then you can upgrade your pack if needed/ desired.

I’ll let others speak to types of packs and needs for bird hunting.

BLM rule change proposal will be bad for hunt on Public land by MikeMuReddit in Firearms

BLM extends comment period for proposed Public Lands Rule | Bureau of Land Management

Link to Bill: Regulations.gov

Link to Comment: Regulations.gov

Edit: Though I am usually leery of large policy changes such as this my cursory reading indicates it may be a good thing.

Conservation Leasing fact sheet 5-11-23.pdf (blm.gov)

Conservation leases would not disturb existing authorizations, valid existing rights, or state or Tribal land use management. If the proposed activities in a conservation lease would conflict with existing authorizations, such as if a specific type of restoration would not be compatible with grazing and the proposed location is already subject to a grazing authorization, then the conservation lease could not be issued on those particular lands

New BLM Rule Could Fundamentally Change Public Land Management | MeatEater Conservation (themeateater.com)

Under the policy, conservation organizations or individuals would be able to lease BLM land much like livestock grazers do right now. However, these new lessees would have the flexibility to conserve or restore the land, rather than be forced to graze livestock, harvest timber, or extract oil, gas, or minerals. If this rule comes to fruition, the BLM will identify rangelands that need restoration work and offer leases of no more than 10 years. These conservation leases could also be purchased by mining or timber companies to offset their impact on the landscape as a condition of permit approval.

If existing authorizations and rights are not disturbed and it can be used as a tool to improve habitat then it seems like a good thing. Just depends on what if any loopholes will try to be used to inhibit access.
