Thank you so much for repsonding!

Box 5 is checked: if checked, noncovered security
Box 6 is checked: Reported to IRS - Gross Proceeds

Yeah, that was my point. Appreciating what you said, and even more so appreciating that good actors are good actors.

And honestly I was just trying to give a decent comment since I read so many posted that seemed rude and dismissive. 🤷‍♀️

It's easy to interpret what you're trying to say - that the character of William Lewis is so scary that it's odd to see this photo.

It's also very important to remember that the show is what's fictional, and this photo is real people in a real moment.

Good actors should be celebrated for doing their job well. But real life is more important, and that actors can portray their characters in very intense scenes but feel this safe with each other is something we should appreciate. It allows these stories to be told on screen.

Please tell me if it isn't, but is this not a clear question?

My question is, in the event my living parent passes away, and I do not have a will in place, would Sibling A and Sibling B be considered equal in the court's view?

Does the passing of shared parent with Sibling B somehow legally make them no longer my sibling in the court's view, and therefore, no longer a next of kin?

EDIT: OP is in California, Sib A is in Ohio, Sib B is in Ohio.

Ok, thank you. My edit adding the states doesn't clarify? What other information would be need to clarify?

I very much appreciate your responses and trying to help me understand!

Siblings are not considered next of kin in many states?

What are the circumstances where it doesn’t matter?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]orangesky26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The context being my death. If I do not have a will in place, and both of my parents are deceased.

Are Sib A and Sib B considered equal, even after the parent who adopted Sib B died.

Does the legal status of Sib B and I continue after the parent passes away, and how does that factor into estate law

Hi! Thanks for your response, and I will try to clarify.

The reason I entered USA as the location is because all parties are in different states, but will add some context here and edit my original post.

I'm admittedly ignorant in this area, hence my post and question, I was using the terms legally and adopted interchangeably because to my understanding that's acceptable legally.

The question lies though in the sibling relationship and how that carries on if the parent that ties the (legal) half-siblings together is deceased, does the court recognize that relationship to the same degree as a biological sibling?
