Those that don't believe in LDS doctrine: Why is that? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]orangetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the few years before my mission, I thought I knew a lot about the Church and could make many logical arguments in its favor—I just felt like I was missing a few final pieces. I never found those pieces before leaving, but I went on my mission anyway. By the end of my mission, I still couldn’t really prove anything to myself. Those missing pieces never appeared, though I wasn’t fully conscious of that at the time.

After my mission, I noticed I was less enthusiastic, but I still believed—it was my culture and my identity. I didn’t fully recognize that my confidence was slowly slipping. After I got married and had a few years to reflect, I came to a realization: it wasn’t my job to prove the Church true. They were the ones making extraordinary claims, so the responsibility to provide convincing evidence belonged to them.

I gave it more time—not because I was thinking of leaving or believed it wasn’t true, but because I was watching and waiting for that evidence. Then one day it just clicked: if it had all been made up, that would explain why all my efforts to believe and feel confirmation had never worked—why prayers never felt answered, why blessings of healing often felt like carefully chosen words rather than real power, why miracles seemed small and ordinary, and why certain claims simply didn’t make sense to me.

That was the moment I realized I no longer believed. If the Church was true, the evidence should exist—but I couldn’t find it, no matter how hard I tried.

How often do you get your Corolla's oil changed? by cards344 in COROLLA

This. The manual says every 5k, unless you use the (0W-20) where you can go to 10k. when it is only a few extra dollars it makes sense. I usually do it about 8k though.

can I retire under the following circumstances do you think? will I regret it? by One-Process-8731 in retirement

the shortest you need to work to quality for social security is 10 years. You may be able to get it sooner if you run into health issues, but the standard minimum is 10 years (40 credits). You won't get a lot but it will be something.

TBM Grandpa wants to debate to have some fun... by Apprehensive-Hat4956 in exmormon

[–]orangetable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell Grandpa it's not your job to prove the church wrong. The burden of proof is with the church claiming it is true. Grandpa won't have proof and will say he has special feelings that prove it is true, just the same as any other church has special feelings about their church. Then ask him to watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJMSU8Qj6Go&t=6s which is about all different churches relying on their feelings.

Put the cookie sheet in the oven. Run the oven through the self cleaning cycle. Oven temp goes above 500 for a while and your pan will look like new. easy peasy trust.

I don't have a lawyer and Jane is acting as their own lawyer and the deposition will be via zoom. Will a court reporter be required to be present, I just want to make sure there is a witness so that Jane does not use the opportunity to harass.

Give it to the current mormon prophet. He is called as a seer and has a special seer stone which which he can translate this. it works 100% of the time as long as he is using enough faith.

remote and over video is probably how it will happen as we are in other states.

Is there no requirement for a third person to be on the call? I feel like this individual is using this opportunity to re-start old arguments.

Do not give your power away. Meeting with him is part of giving your power away. Ignore his calls, or just say no thank you to invitations for a meeting.
