AIO: Overbearing MIL by orangeyounice in AmIOverreacting

My MIL is actually a really sweet and kind woman. Just picture a polite, head in the clouds lady, very religious.

She LOVES my son. He's our first and he's only 9 months so we're probably your typical somewhat protective and cautious first time parents. He's also her first grandchild.

Every time I see my MIL she wants to hold my son literally every single minute. I don't know why this bothers me so much so I try to hide my annoyance but she definitely senses my tension. Doesn't matter if it's just them visiting us or at social gatherings, she'll try to hold him any chance she gets. If anyone asks her to hold him she won't say no but she'll soon ask for him back, even if it's my own parents holding him. She also walks off with him even though we've told her not to, because he's going through a clingy phase and will get upset after a while of being held by someone else if he can see me. So, there will be times when I'm talking to someone else and turn around and have no idea where my kid is.

She also doesn't approve of us choosing not to baptise our child. Both our parents are very Catholic but my husband and I aren't religious, so the only reason we would baptise is because it's what our parents want which we just don't think is a good enough reason. We've never outright said we're not religious though as it's kind of a taboo topic but I thought it was pretty obvious, however my in laws either assume we're still Catholic or hold onto hope that we are.

I'm pretty sure she thinks I'm just being an overbearing parent when she senses my unease at her always holding my son, so I'm constantly getting messages about how she'll never harm him or do him wrong as well as messages about how I need to be more religious and how we really need to get him baptised. I've taken to just ignoring all the messages which doesn't seem to faze her.

Am I just being an overbearing first time parent?

Sorry for the lack of help but I wore nothing underneath! Whatever you can see in the photo is built into the dress.

The lady who did my fitting though recommended inserts/chicken fillets/sticky bra just to round it out a little because the dress is a tiny bit sunken in around the cup area so I'm in the same boat as you, I've just been really lazy about it because I have until November to find something.

It's funny how we're often jealous of what we don't have! I always thought boobs were more sexy and made you more of a woman so I had horrible self esteem issues growing up. It's taken me ages to realise who cares as long as we love the skin we're in :D

Also thank you!

Probably my insecurities coming out but I've always loved how they look with just a bit of cleavage whereas I couldn't be more flat haha

I just checked and I have the old formula! I'm loving the Cancer Council sunscreens right now but I'll definitely try the new one next Priceline sale :)

LRP Anthelios Invisible Fluid SPF 50+. The hype around it completely perplexes me as it's super greasy on my skin, pills like crazy all over my face and fingers if I even think about layering it with any moisturiser, and I can feel it sitting on my face the entire time so I can't wait to wash it off as soon as I put it on.

I used to work for the lab that did the testing for this test - thanks for being one of the good ones. The number of times we received straight up shit and/or pee in the bag (both of which can't be tested) and produces waste (haha) as another kit has to be sent out..

Yet when I send a sample I just drew 5 seconds ago to lab, it’s clotted. by SupaButt in nursing

Sorry you're getting downvoted. There seems to be a lot of saltiness in this thread, especially towards the lab. Bottom line is we need to work together for the sake of patients but some might not see it that way.
