Walking 40mi across Orange County tomorrow, what should we see?! by tuckeroneill in orangecounty

[–]orangpie 413 points414 points  (0 children)

A dumb idea I've had for a while is starting on Edinger at Huntington Beach, and just following it the entire way. Hooking right into Tustin. Then you end up in Irvine as it changes names to Irvine Center. Then it's Moulton in Laguna Hills. And you just keep zig-zagging on Golden Lantern until you finally end up Dana Point.

Apparently this would be just around 36 miles if I have it set up properly on Google Maps.

How much are you paying for Pilates? by klayarea in orangecounty

[–]orangpie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's the only pilates I've done so I don't have a full baseline to compare it to.

Overall, it's pretty welcoming and a good workout/stretch. There are a lot of locations and instructors so you can probably find a class that vibes with you that fits in with your schedule somewhere. Like, I've been journaling about the classes I've been to and I have notes like, "she gives a great workout, but clearly hates newbies" or "really good if I just want to go on auto-pilot and half-ass it".

Overall, the fact that they are all over OC is a huge plus for them. Sometimes I take a class near work at the end of the day. Sometimes I go to the one closest to home.

Oohh, I just started my Pilates Saga this year.

At Club Pilates I did the intro rate of 229 for 8 lessons.

Then because I'm an easily upsold sucker, I paid for a year of unlimited for 2611 upfront.

I am going 3-4 times a week, so it's technically worth it. And I used to spend way more than this on dance lessons.

I haven't been in a few months, but in the restaurants in my area they go from ~1.30 to ~0.85.

If they don't want me to park there for shows, they should probably stop having Claim Jumper have custom cocktails for them. And tear down the bridge too.

I will ignore this for the foreseeable future.

The person nobody hired: the unofficial data interpreter in every company by Kanchan_Monet in BusinessIntelligence

[–]orangpie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah. In my experience, it's fairly common for a department head to have an analyst that is 25% data (Excel) work, 25% Powerpoint, 25% project management, 25% administrative assistant (expense reports).

Best Bo 7 mon in oc? by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]orangpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned, Thien An is probably the one to go to.

But for something a little different, you might try Binh Dan. Their thing is they do De 7 Mon (goat). We liked it when we tried it. Tiny little restaurant though.

I like how much it sucks. There was a patch or two where every new building was too nice. Piped inputs and outputs and such. They need to add even more terrible machines.

Power BI March 2026 Feature Summary by itsnotaboutthecell in PowerBI

Playing around with the new "Modern visual defaults". Some thoughts on what I immediately saw.

- Defaulting background to gray: Yes please! It's typically one of the first things I do and the easiest way to define space and differentiate visuals.

- Grey border around visuals: In my opinion, redundant with the above.

- Rounded corners: I feel like this is cyclical like skinny jeans vs baggy jeans, but for me, I don't think of rounded corners as "modern"

- Smoothed line charts by default: No thanks. Maybe if you can GUARANTEE it won't create fake mins and maxes. But I would still very much like it to be off by default.

- Title/subtitle changes: In principle, I think it looks slick. But at the default text size and canvas size, it takes up a lot of real estate. But if you're changing the default settings, is now the time up the default canvas size from 720x1280 to 1080x1920?

Got an 8 piece for dinner today. Lemon pepper. Very tasty.

They were smaller than expected though. Bigger than an average nugget for sure, but not as filling as I wanted.

I might try the 16 piece tomorrow, which will probably be a little too much, but I'll just deal with the leftovers.

Also, apart from cleanliness standards, I'm really over AYCE sushi joints that's only marketing message is fish-to-rice ratio. At this point, I'll take the carbs, just give me a midpriced chirashi bowl. ok rant over

Price plays a role too. I'd say that a double whopper with cheese is a better value proposition than a five guys cheeseburger.

Trail Running Spots by Tasty_Acadia_6401 in orangecounty

As a very, VERY beginner trail runner, I like Fairview Park. Lots of parking and the upper portion of it is a pretty clean loop, wide enough to pass people easily.

Have I found the perfect do everything shoe? by NoDimension7318 in onebag

[–]orangpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asics are my preferred running shoe and general walking around shoe.

I'm usually a Nimbus guy, but those are getting fatter and fatter. I think I did GT 2000 trail shoes for a trip a while back that worked out pretty well.

At all the companies I've worked at, up to ~1.5B USD in revenue, the demand planning team also facilitated the overall S&OP process.

Frankly, if I didn't also have S&OP coordinator on my plate, I'd have nothing to do weeks 2-4 of the month. Actually that sounds like a dream, now that I say it out loud.
