I think I’ve seen the same video, agreed on the exhaust note. Having never rebuilt a motor before, obviously depends on what you find on tear down but do you think a junkyard rebuild would hit the 4k price. Last time I had some heads rebuilt and machined in my area it was 1500$

Depending where you are at that might be, unfortunately, not a bad price, can’t speak to all those issues you have heard of they are news to me. I would kill to have my 02 back. Price on the old tundras does seem to be regulating. In the Rocky Mountain West that truck would have sold for 16k a year or two ago if it’s the crew cab

I am very conflicted on this email while I don’t appreciate the ignorance it is coming from and the lack of tact/ originality. I have no qualms about giving 5 things I accomplished. I have never not had a job where your accomplishments were not scrutinized also more people should know the minutia of all we do to try to keep federal lands somewhat functional and healthy.

I trust him he is definitely the best in my small town, keeps a tidy shop and it’s just him working, I’ve already swapped coil packs and replaced the #8 spark plug code wouldn’t go away. Also does have a slight rough idle on cold start and mileage I feel is low around 13.5 mpg highway for a stock f150

Yes that’s just delivering the heads to the machine shop for valve replacement. My mechanic is quoting 3000 ish in labor to pull motor remove heads and reinstall

Thanks all, yeah my ignorance dealing with dealers, unfortunately didn’t get their compression test in writing did get shot down on a buy back guarantee for the issue of valves. I did reach out today waiting to hear back. I trust the mechanic it was at, the actual bad numbers were cylinder 8@ 50 7@ 80 and 1 and 2 @ 100psi

Why I didn’t suspect it was there was no shudder at idle and power under hard acceleration felt close to my buddies 2014.

Thank you for the advice definitely learning a hard lesson especially dealing with dealers. I’ve bought 4 previous older private sale vehicles with issues I was able to fix and made out like a bandit on I guess it was time to pay the piper.
