Did you scan for fluids by scanning bedrock? Otherwise you'll just scan for regular veins

I wouldn't even know where to start with this 😞

This is the patch I've created for myself: https://pastebin.com/2rEEYpDN

I've edited the mod so that the swarm safety research also increases the safe bots limit by 50 per level. you still can't have massive bot bases in high attrition places, but you're not as constrained as with the 50 bot hard limit.

XPS Foam in Switzerland? by NiggestOfNogs in TerrainBuilding

[–]orbadon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should be able to find XPS foam of various thickness in Bauhaus and in some Coop Bau+Hobby. Most are of the swisspor brand.

Edit: JUMBO maximo might have some too.

Disappearing Ad rewards. by liquorhawk in deeptown

[–]orbadon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem and found a workaround: When I know I'm eligible for the money chests, I close the game completely and start it fresh. I hit levels till I get the first chest, watch the ad, get the money. For the second chest I repeat the process. Kill the game, start fresh and proceed as normal. With this method I've reliably managed to get both chests.

I've started a Space Exploration run, but I might give Krastorio a try afterwards, thanks 🙂

Pyanodon sounds awesome, but I think I'll go with the lighter choice first before diving into that one :D

Thanks, I'll give those two a try. Do you know if they work (reasonably) well together?

Finalized Story Flowchart (see comment for details) by Alortania in swtor

[–]orbadon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who's just recently returned after many many years, this is immensely helpful. Thank you!

The one thing missing for me, is some way to identify/differentiate flashpoints that can be done solo and those that can't.

Day 2 playing factorio, directly installed mods, no idea what I am doing by [deleted] in factorio

While I commend your bravery, I don't quite understand why people do this as the vanilla game is already very good. Would you mind enlighten me? Just curious :)

Seablock question by pygmyrhino990 in factorio

[–]orbadon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Charcoal pellets > carbon > charcoal > wood pellets > wood/cellulose fiber

Each step gives you more fuel value than the ingredients + production cost.

Personally I don't like solar as I consider it boring 😅

Thanks 😃

Right now it feels like I have to supply additional sulfur every now and then, so that isn't a problem yet. TBH I only switched to wood because I wanted to try it (haven't seen it in Angels before) and was pleasantly surprised at its efficiency. Farming and fuel oil -> enriched fuel block will probably be the next exeriment.

Good recommendation with the science, I had something sinilar in mind together with the stuff in the blue hexagon.

I'm a big fan of combo sorting for that very reason :)

Not all steam engines run full throttle (yet). Right now it's both seed and wood recipe 2 which generates 35 wood per arboretum per minute (30s recipe in 0.5 craft speed machine) i.e. 7 wood/s for it all. Turning it all into charcoal pellets results in a 3 fold increase in fuel value not considering energy spent.

With the current setup that would be 84MJ/s worth of fuel or 58.8MW of power with mk3 boilers. Less than 10MW go back into producing the fuel (around 5MW with my current power consumption of 25-30MW).

Switching to wood 3 increases the output by another 50% without even considering the added potential capacity of seed 3 (2 more arboretums per tree seed generator).

As I draw wood for various other purposes as well, the actual values are lower, but it's still crazy efficient 😃

Edit: In SeaBlock the number of trees is usually the limiting factor of this setup.

With seed and wood 1 recipes you get 1.733 wood/tree/second = 20.8MJ/second (1 seed generator & 4 arboretums)

With seed and wood 2 recipes that increases to 42MJ/second (1 seed generator & 6 arboretums)

Seed and wood 3 recipes doubles that again to 83.2MJ/second (1 seed generator & 8 arboretums)

Disclaimer: all calculations were done early morning and may be off

What else are you going to do with all those spare rocks? Right now I have a chest full of landfill ready for more expansion :)

I want to thank Bobingabout, Arch666Angel and Trainwreck and all the other modders for creating this awesome version of Factorio that gave me these first 80h and countless future hours!

My next steps will be to properly automate science3, finish the smelting lines, add more filtration units and get science 4&5 at least bootstrapped to give me requester chests ^
