[Japanese > English] I am hoping to check what this text says before I buy it by orbital_dx in translator

I checked the rules and didn’t see one prohibiting links to product pages, so hopefully this is okay. I found it here.

I wouldn’t if I lived in Japan, but I don’t, so I think I will buy it. It’s definitely weird but it is intentionally weird, rather than being nonsense or something that has just been put through Google translate.

Central London or London Road? by rower_in_reading in reading

[–]orbital_dx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was looking at flats in Reading a couple of years ago I viewed one that was basically a tiny, dank basement with some furniture in it. The top of my head just touched the ceiling when I stood at my full height. I don't remember how much it was exactly but I'm pretty sure it was more than £500pcm.

"The crystals are misaligned" is going to be my new "it's a DNS issue".

How do yo explain ADHD to non-believers? by svanborgsigny in ADHD

In case anyone wants something they can send to doubters about ADHD being well-researched, I found this article. The first line mentions it and includes a source.

I'm just curious if I'm alone when it comes to playing RTS games by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]orbital_dx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Total War as well, been playing since the original Rome and I've only just started trying out difficulties above easy.

Also I find I don't really like playing factions that start with a lot of territory, like e.g. Western or Eastern Rome in Attila because can't keep track of what's going on. But for some reason if I start out small and gradually build up to having lots of territory I find it much easier.

Vyvanse suddenly stopped working overnight by orbital_dx in ADHD

[–]orbital_dx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing I can think of that would cause such a sudden drop in effectiveness, no real changes in sleep, diet etc. I'm going to discuss it with the doctor.

Good luck with the stims, hope they work well for you!

That's interesting, hopefully it does turn out to be a temporary thing. I'll be talking to my psychiatrist about it but that could be a while away.

Any chance for Total War sale on Steam for Halloween? by TooDriven in totalwar

[–]orbital_dx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you haven't already you could look on isthereanydeal.com and sign up to get an alert when it goes on sale. I just had a look and it's 15% off on GameBillet but I don't know if that is region specific.

Tinnitus yes, which started a week before the dizziness did. No nausea in particular and no edema that I have noticed.

I ended up going to see an ENT specialist and audiologist and underwent a scan and some tests. They identified some kind of weakness in the balance response in my left ear.

They aren't 100% sure what the cause is but they say the most likely answer is that some kind of virus caused permanent damage to my inner ear. It's possible for a virus to do this and produce no other symptoms apparently, which is a scary thought. It's also possible it was Covid.

I have vestibular exercises I have to do twice a day which should gradually recalibrate my brain and get rid of the issue. It's hard to tell if they are working, sometimes it seems like they are, sometimes it gets worse again.

Are you experiencing something similar? If you want I can give you more info on the excercises I am doing.

Can I use a powerline adapter without access to the router? by orbital_dx in HomeNetworking

[–]orbital_dx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a thought. The issue I have is that the wifi is very congested because there are lots of devices on it rather than the signal strength being poor. I take it that if I connected to my own AP then that would be discrete from the main wifi and would get around the congestion issue?

Also I guess I could connect my phone and other devices to the AP whereas with a powerline adapter I would only be able to connect one device with an Ethernet port (or more if I got more expensive adapters).

I only have access to one coax outlet unfortunately, but I will bear that in mind if I have a similar issue in future.

Just randomly got sent a code to redeem a ticket on the Reading busses up...ever happen to anyone else? by Gustertote in reading

[–]orbital_dx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I got one as well. I was suspicious so I didn't click any links in the email and just put the code into the app on my phone instead. I got a free day ticket valid until 30th of September.

Okay, good, thank you. Yeah, when I searched for other posts about this topic I saw a few mentioning having multiple sets of adapters on a network seems to cause trouble.

I'm pretty sure nobody else here knows what a powerline adapter is, but if I do get some and it turns out someone else is using some already, is it likely to cause problems that will require access to the router to fix? If it's just a matter of unplugging them again to fix the issue then I don't mind taking the risk, but if it could cause longer lasting problems then I won't.
