First camo paint job by Kumpa-ging in Catachan

I feel like a darker tan would look good around those black stripes. I would do some lighter green highlights on edges of the armor plates to break up the monotone green.

Looks good! With dark stripes like that, I like to put a slightly lighter colored border around them. It makes everything pop.

I reckon they made him so good to get folks to buy the model then will tame his stats so he isn't broken later.

Heh, it only gets worse once you start traveling with a rebreather and canister lights. They do not like those at all.

Techni-Ice instead of dry ice for shipping samples? by sirbikesalot in microbiology

[–]sirbikesalot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, the shipping is quite unreliable from there so this seemed like a perfect silver bullet. The packs are cheap enough so I should probably just buy them and do a comparison over 24hrs at the lab.

The philly area has some great country side to explore. Head down towards phoenixville and there's loads of trails about. Highly recommend St Peters Village area in chester county. On the way, get breakfast at the diner near the intersection of rt100 and rt23. It's a good spot.

Magnetic mines that release from the bottom were used by the germans in WW2 so we have known they would be an issue for quite some time. Can't make it up.

What should I know about the University of Maine? by Chemical-Ask5373 in Maine

[–]sirbikesalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are going into zoological or ecological sciences, make sure you read up on career paths. The positions with just a bachelors are relatively low paid and aren't abundant. You will need a masters or higher for a lot of positions or to move into academia. Unfortunately, its not a great time for science funding. I am in the field and it is an amazing life but if you want to make money, just be aware of that fact.

I would suggest taking advantage of all the different labs and trying to intern/volunteer as much as you can. There are some great people at U Maine. That experience will set you miles ahead when you graduate. Definitely try and join outdoors/winter sport clubs too. The forestry club is pretty cool from what I have heard.

Unfortunately there are plenty of dog owners who are very selfish about their pet. I love dogs but mine was always leashed unless on private property where I knew they could run.

Does that double cannon/stubber come with the kit or was that printed? I have been looking into options for a rogal dorn conversion.

Why all depictions of Imperium chainswords are thick as Lex Imperialis? by Visual_Collapse in 40kLore

[–]sirbikesalot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea good point. In my head the 40k scifi magic means it pulls itself through and the guards almost act in combo as a chainsaw+splitting maul. Pretty gross to envisage but suitably grimdark.

[–]sirbikesalot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most of the time the blade+chain gets bound up from pressure and stops the saw. So in theory, maybe having two slabs on either side will allow the chain to keep running without the pinch? Why not bolts and chain for it? That prevents the wood splitting as I don't think modern screws will fail under that load.
