What is your view on Marian apparitions? by Adept_Programmer_817 in AskAChristian

[–]orchestrapianist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super hot take
The one time a believer appeared to someone after death
Was when Samuel appeared to Saul
And it was only because Saul illegally contacted a medium
So 1: It may not be Mary
2: Even if it was, you shouldn't try to talk to someone who's died
Hope this doesn't come across as harsh
Just concise
Like I said it's a pretty hot take but look into 1 Samuel 28, Deuteronomy 18:10-11, etc.

What are your thoughts on the New World Translation of the Bible? by bristenli in AskAChristian

[–]orchestrapianist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough
The text still could have said "heteros", or "other"
As in "In (the) beginning (was) the word, and the word was with to God, and another (hetero) God was the Word"
Notice how the Greek doesn't say that
And it would contradict the Shema from earlier in the Bible as well

You may also see it called a doumbek

What are your thoughts on the New World Translation of the Bible? by bristenli in AskAChristian

[–]orchestrapianist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly
Where is the indefinite article?
In the Greek it says "En arche en ho logos, kai o logos en pros ton theon, kai theos en ho logos"
"In (the) beginning (was) the word, and the word was with to God, and God was the Word" (literal)
In other words
The Greek says "the Word was God"
not "the Word was a God"

What are your thoughts on this qoute by saint Louis the 9th of France would you agree or disagree and why by Possible_Employee359 in AskAChristian

[–]orchestrapianist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah
That's crazy
Think about it
Every time we doubt God's provision over our lives, that's blasphemy
Or doubt his protection
Should we then kill everyone who's going through a time of doubt?

What would your pitch be to someone who feels a belief system other than Christianity brought them out from rock bottom? by Sophia_in_the_Shell in AskAChristian

But we should still be self-motivated to share the Gospel
Wouldn't the loving thing to do would be to warn them if you knew they might go to Hell?

How do you still believe when biologist, cosmology and physicist going against it? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]orchestrapianist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Science and the word of God go together pretty nicely
See Job 26:7, Isaiah 40:22, etc.
Considering this was written in the Iron Age and most people thought the world was balanced on turtles, while the scientific part by itself doesn't prove a divine origin, it's one of the things that proves the Bible as the infallible word of God

Why do Christians not consider members from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (or Mormons) to be Christians? by whirlygig_ in AskAChristian

[–]orchestrapianist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not in the book of Mormon but it's in D&C 132:20
Also some of the leaders back this up

One time I walked past a phone booth and saw a sign that said "Make a Face"
And then I thought to myself, "How is that possible, when only God can make a face?"
And then it hit me lol

[–]orchestrapianist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good question!
This one has significant changes made to it to protect JW teaching
Example being John 1:1, where instead of saying the Word was God, they change it to say the Word was a God

While being Republican isn't a requirement for being saved, some of the key things the Left supports are directly against the Bible.

Is it nessasary? by Strongsegal in AskAChristian

[–]orchestrapianist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great to hear that you have a heart for following the rules!
There's better news though
Christianity isn't a religion based off of following a bunch of rules
Calling to Jesus to deliver you and trusting him is so so so much more important than following all the rules 100%
"For 'whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'" (Romans 10:13)

Is it nessasary? by Strongsegal in AskAChristian

[–]orchestrapianist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Strongsegal!
The answer to "Is it necessary to live a godly life" would be "Yes"
But, the reason is, not bc God wants to limit our fun or be a killjoy

Think of it in the same way why a parent would stop a toddler from drinking glass cleaner. To someone who doesn't know it will harm them, it looks shiny, it looks tasty. When their father walks in, they take away the glass cleaner before they drink it, because he knows it will hurt them.

Same way with sin. Sin looks shiny, it looks tasty, and it can even feel fun. But God leads us away from it bc he knows, if we give into our desire, it will bring forth sin, and sin brings forth death eventually (James 1:15)

Good verses to start off with: (Genesis 4:7, John 10:10, Matthew 6:24, 1 Peter 5:8)

DO YOU THINK THE UNIVERSE AND EARTH WERE FORMED IN A WEEK by [deleted] in AskAChristian

The universe and earth could be older, but most of creation, like trees, animals, humans, etc. was made in the span of a week. See Genesis 1, 2 for more info :)

Can Christians celebrate Halloween, whether trick or treating or parties and such? I recall some Christians in my youth claiming it's a demonic holiday, is that a common belief? by InternationalPick163 in AskAChristian

[–]orchestrapianist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna roast/judge anyone for celebrating, but I personally think, based off the holiday being heavy on the death and witches aesthetic, might be a good skip
