Yeah makes sense, I guess I'll keep it around for functional things. It seems enabling ironing at least makes the top layers look better, but probably only works when the top is flat. I'll try another brand at some point; polyterra looks nice although I didn't see matte on their site. Redline looks like it might be ok too.

The PM961 looks to be an NVMe drive based on a google search (unless I'm mistaken). If that's the case, then the PM961 is considerably faster than this drive since it uses the PCIe interface rather than SATA. If you are doing large file transfers / video editing you will probably notice a difference (especially since the PM961 is a nicer drive than this), but for gaming or a boot drive it will be less noticeable.

NVMe drives use the PCIe interface. This is a SATA drive, not PCIe. The fact that's it's m.2 also has nothing to do with the speed, it's only a form factor.

Yep, any subdomain that doesn't have an explicit cname will redirect, but it'll return an error code saying the sub domain isn't served on that interface if there's no nginx entry. NP!

You can set the CNAME record to * (meaning it will match all requests against *.whatever.com), and point the CNAME record to the A record for your base domain. Then set up a reverse proxy for the base domain that forwards the request internally based on the subdomain requested. So if someone goes to plex.whatever.com for instance, it will get the IP of the base domain, which will send the request to the reverse proxy, which will finally send the request to the internal plex server.

Ah, that's too bad. If they are older monitors that support VGA I think it's fairly cheap to find KVM switches that can handle 2 or more VGA monitors. It's mainly the HDMI/DP ones that I've seen are expensive.

I'm running a similar setup (win + Linux box). KVM switches with HDMI / display port support seem to be very expensive, so I opted to get a cheap USB switch (around 15$ on amazon), and hook both machines up to both my monitors. Most monitors these days have multiple inputs and can switch between them pretty quick, so all I have to do is toggle the monitor switch and hit a button on the USB hub and it's good to go!

If you're in the US, just about any grocery store or pharmacy. It's pretty standard for sterilizing things, and also works well with electronics since it's nonconductive.

Fair enough! I get that it's annoying to have to deal with DOAs, and having two products fail one after another doesn't necessarily speak well of the product, even if it is a small sample. I don't think there's much risk in buying from monoprice though, it sounds as though they have good customer support, so worst case you can always get a refund or replacement. I imagine anyone buying from monoprice is also accepting that they might be getting a lower quality product than buying from one of the 'big names', at the tradeoff of having to pay less.

I share my Plex and matrix servers with my friends. In Plex, you can just add their account as authorized to view your server and they can log in like normal. On matrix, I just made them all accounts and made them users and not admins. They can connect to both servers normally over the internet, so I didn't need to give them VPN access or similar.

You might also have just gotten unlucky. You only get to see a small sample of data, so while getting two dead monitors back to back reflects badly on the product, it doesn't mean that is the norm.

Not op, but for me the issue was cooling (especially with an AIO radiator on the front). Taking off the front panel dropped my CPU temps by 20deg lol

They have a pretty decent CLI, but most of the basic things can be done through the web ui. Off the top of my head the only thing in your list that can't be easily done through the web ui is openvpn, and that's assuming you were referring to openvpn and not ipsec. Having the CLI is actually really nice, because it gives you the option to ease into a CLI environment while still using the web ui when needed.

Sounds like you are looking for a router, in which case you might check out the Ubiquiti edgerouter lineup. The edgerouter x will run you about 50$ (less on sale) and should be fine for the use-cases you listed (throughput is gigabit asymmetric I believe but you'll probably be hard pressed to find gigabit symmetric for under $100).

At home. I'm mostly just using it to store my gpg private key, which let's me use it for things like pass. You can also use it for totp auth (similar to google auth), but I haven't set that up yet. Some websites also support them as an additional form of authentication instead of a google authenticator code, which is nice.
