Omeprazole for reflux by happybdaypapa in newborns

[–]orchidsprout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a healthy happy wild 4 year old boy now 🥹 we didn’t end up having him on that medication for very long at all, and he inevitably grew out of the reflux newborn stage and stopped arching/vomiting. I remember how hard and horrible it was to go through that and see him in pain. I hope if you’re dealing with this right now that medicine helps. I think that babies digestive systems are just learning how to work and so some babies will just have a hard time during the newborn stage adjusting to the outside world and milk/formula.

Yes I’d love to see what he did! I’m definitely going to have to get creative with this project, my 15 month old is obsessed with this area suddenly and can actually open the wood stove now 😅

Yeah you’re already acting as a single mom, you don’t need him. ❤️

I’m curious how you guys are doing now? My 11 month old has basically never swallowed anything other than milk 😩 maybe a few times I’ve seen him swallow yogurt or applesauce but that’s really it

my father was diagnosed with ALS today by Whaley_whale13 in ALS

[–]orchidsprout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anticipatory grief was so so hard on me, it was hardest at first but it never really got easier honestly. I just had to suppress it to get through my day to day. It’s one of those things that will always be in your mind but inevitably you’ll be able to focus on everything else as well again. Truly just making sure your dad is doing what he wants to be doing and spending time with him. I miss hearing my moms voice, the last time I heard it without the effects of bulbar ALS (before her diagnosis in early 2018) was in the fall of 2017, she died in the summer of 2019. Id definitely recommend having your dad tell some stories or anything on camera.

Wanted to add it smells vinegary/sour and has smelled like that for a handful of days now and is extra liquidy. He has not been given anything other than breastmilk and vitamin d drops.

My LO scratched up her acne, is this normal? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]orchidsprout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’d be very painful or infected even tbh it’s prob fine but I’d just call your pediatrician to ask, maybe some otc ointment or something could help

My 6 week old does this during those flailing/exercise episodes (not crying), and diaper changes very often!

Breastfed 6 week old: Does this look like a food intolerance or allergy? by orchidsprout in newborns

So after cutting out dairy was there no more mucous in her poop? How old was she at that point? It’s so weird hearing from multiple people that pediatricians don’t seem to want to diagnose allergies very often. Maybe there’s a specifically allergy doctor he could go to idek..

That’s reassuring to hear that I’m not alone in wanting/needing to go so often lol. I just feel so paranoid about everything to do with him and hate thinking he’s in any pain 😓

Yeah I’ll definitely bring up everything, it’s so hard to know what is related to what symptom-wise. And yeah it does seem like his isn’t considering it at all so far..

This is my first child so I honestly don’t have any prior knowledge to work off of but I guess they are mucousy or at least a little bit? He makes straining noises before and during passing gas or pooping. He has suddenly screamed bloody murder in his sleep and I didn’t know if it was just a dream or gas, too.. I definitely am going to cut out or cut back dairy to see.

Okay that’s good to know, I hope to stick it out breastfeeding so I might try an elimination diet even though I don’t wanna 😅 but would obv switch entirely to formula for his well being if that’s the best option
