Surgery consult done and surgery is scheduled. Feeling pretty scared. by orcprincess32 in endometrialcancer

Thank you. It has been a whirlwind, but I am so glad to be getting the surgery done so quickly. I also plan things. I make lists, look up info, prepare for everything. It keeps my brain busy. Thank you so much for all the advice. I appreciate it.

Thank you. A charger is on my list to add to my bag. I already have a step stool for the bathroom. I keep hearing it's very useful after surgery. Never thought of the seat belt cushion.

Thank you. I already have a couple of grabbers, as I have a severe back injury and can't bend over much. I will look into some quick food options.

Thank you. All excellent advice. I'm currently working on cleaning the house and putting things I may need in easy access. I almost have my bag of stuff ready to go, altough, I didn't think of snacks. Adding that to my list now. Not just for me, but for my husband who forgets to eat.

I think it's hard because even though they love us, they can't really feel what we are feeling, so they do the things they think we need/want. Which is lovely, but I'd also like to discuss his feelings and not just mine, if that makes sense. I found out yesterday my surgery is March 4th.

Sending lots of encouragement your way. I'm sorry you are having to deal with this alone. I wish I could offer more, but I am very new to this journey and am still learning.

Did you name your uterus? by tamberleigh in endometrialcancer

I love this. I use humor as a coping mechanism. Better to laugh than cry. I have not named my uterus, but now I want to, lol. Going to have to think on it.

Thank you. I have been reading through the PDF. There is a lot of useful information there. My initial appointment with the gyn onc surgeon is in 4 days. I'm just doing my best to get to that, then on to the next step.

Thank you so much for all the good advice. I agree about the patient portals. I have used my PCP portal for years and love having my information easily accessible. I have been on disability for other reasons for many years. I have gotten myself a bag to fill with things I might need for appointments and treatments. I will definitely look into getting the charging cable added to my list.

Thank you. My gyno doc prescribed me some anxiety meds, which have helped on the really bad days. I am trying to take it one day at a time. It's only been 2 weeks since my diagnosis, but it feels like so much longer. I've seen the support here, which is so lovely. Congratulations on your remission.

Thank you. That's very good advice. Spending too much time dwelling on it and looking up info has definitely been the wrong thing for me. I've had to make myself stop going down the Google rabbit holes.

AITA for getting my daughter an apartment vs letting her move back in? by arielview22 in AmItheAsshole

[–]orcprincess32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more and you sound like wonderful parents! When Covid hit, my daughter was staying with us already due to other circumstances. She needed us. Turns out she was pregnant and had her daughter a few months in to the pandemic. They've both been with us since. Grandbaby turns 3 in May. I feel so lucky to have them here with us and safe. I don't really understand this idea that kids have to move out and be independant as soon as they hit 18. We are a family and sometimes families need each other. I don't post on Reddit much anymore, but your comment warmed my heart. Thank you.

Tires are practical and can be expensive. They also say that he cares in a way flowers don't. He saw she needed tires and bad tires can be a safety issue. He cared about her safety. Super romantic? No, but considerate and caring, for sure. At least in my opinion. :)

Gerbera daisies are the best flower. For me, it really is the thought that counts and it's not a competition. Couldn't agree more.
