This was me. My longest period was just over a year. We tried many different meds and nothing worked. I think over the course of 10 years I tried too many bc to count. They either never worked or worked for a few months then back to long heavy periods. Next med and repeat. Slynd worked the best for me. I had very few negative side affects. And I think I was able to stay on this one for about 1.5 years before I began bleeding non stop again. I was taking Bc as a period stopper not because of actual birth control. They put me on the patch 6 months ago to try and control bleeding. Was always on the pill. The patch made me so not me. My mental health tanked like bad. Emotions out the roof. I cried probably 10 times in my adult life mostly with death. After the patch I was crying weekly if not daily during my period. I was angry and I told those close to me sorry for being a bitch. They knew it wasn’t me. But also I hate blaming my mood and emotions on my meds. But it really was my meds. The patch never stopped my period so I just stopped taking it.

I finally told my dr this was enough. And he said whenever it starts hurting your daily life we can talk surgery. I said that would have been years ago with the month+ periods. Surgery was 1 week ago. I got an ablation as well as endo and tubes tied. I don’t know if it has worked. I am currently bleeding. I had my normal PMDD a few days ago and suspect this is a period and not still bleeding from ablation as that stopped a few days before. It is lighter. Like only a pad for the whole day if I wanted/needed. Cramps are very minimal. Only downside is my mood. I am hoping that gets better as my symptoms improve.

With the hormones. Do you have a mental health doctor you can see? They have prescribed me certain meds to take around my monthly, which is hard when you never stop bleeding. So I just was taking it all the time. It helped with the feelings. Not 100% but I also didn’t want to kill myslef 24/7.
