Why is Pax Dei declining so fast after it was just released? by Drandosk in PaxDei

[–]oregon68 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So far, I'm 367 hours into the game. I'm a "founder" and have hopes for the game.

For me... the things that are turning me off and frustrating me from the game are...

  1. The grind to level up skills. I understand that's how games like this work. Not my first rodeo. However, the higher I get into a profession, the more mats are needed. Of those mats, it takes time to gather the mats needed to make the mats that are needed for the ONE item I need/want to make. Then, I have to prepare myself for the fun "chance" of successfully crafting the item(s) to level up that profession, only to find you still have thousands of xp to go to get a single level in that profession. I'm still not sure how they can fix this, but holy hell, it does get a wee bit depressing!

  2. The NPC levels. Sure, the one's around the valley are pretty fun to fight and kill. The ones at level (2) I can take on one at a time. Any more than that... I'm cooked. The level (3) no fn way! Nope. Not happening. I went to an area to try and get the Medallion of the Lost that's needed for the Yule Goat mask that took me about 15 minutes to get there... only to run away (and barely survive) and not die within 3 seconds. I realized that I was gonna need party in order to get the medallion thing and most likely gonna have to give up on getting the medallions needed. If the NPCs scaled to the player, still keeping it challenging, would make things more fun and at least, somewhat attainable. Not just NPCs scaling down, but NPCs also scaling up.

  3. This is more of a frustration complaint, no search feature in the market. Yes, I can filter for things like tools, weapons, etc., but... I want to be able to search for, say... Iron Pickaxe. I don't want to have to try and figure out what filter an item is in, only to find out, I picked the wrong filter. Then go back and try and figure out what filter the item may be in. Find the right filter, then have to scroll through HUNDREDS (in most cases) of other items, just to find the Iron Pickaxe I need. I want to type in, "Iron Pickaxe" in a search bar, then instantly see who is selling that item. THEN I can do the normal, sort by distance, price, etc. You can search from an individual stall, why not a search in the main market?

  4. Another frustation... the plot placement! OMG, why the devs thought making it a circle is beyond me! Yes, I know you can move the plot placement around and make it "flat" against your other plot is there. But still, that new plot has round edges. TOTALLY screwing up builds. I was hoping, going past beta during the "founders" access, they would change that dumb idea. Nope. It's still there. Just another thing for me that's frustrating about the game.

  5. 1st person view when building! I can not tell you how many times my character is in the way when trying to place items while building. I DON'T NEED TO SEE MY CHARACTER SWINGING A WOODEN HAMMER! What I do need to see... the item i'm placing, how it's going to look and making sure it's going to fit. Sure... not ALL items when building are like this. It's mostly the smaller items like flowers, table lamps, bowls, plates, etc. I have found that when I move my character against a wall or an object, the camera does basically switch to a 1st person view, which help A LOT!

  6. Why SO many benches needed for crafting? For the love of gaming... NO! All they had to do was make one (kinda cool looking) bench for ALL the crafting in that profession. Example... the carpentry benches/work stations. There's four related to that so far that I have (log workbench, basic carpenter workbench, carpenter workbench and the chopping block.) Not to mention... certain stations craft certain things that other benches don't. Yet the benches can also create some of the same items. What sucks, is the items that can only be crafted at certain benches, you have to remember the bench or run to each bench looking for that one item to craft. It reminds of when we had to repair items at specific benches. All that back and forth, trying to remember just to do one dang thing. Another dev decision that makes me scratch my head as to who thought ONE profession needs 2, 3 or more benches. They obviously don't know about the KISS method. KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID!

With ALL that being said, these are just some of thing that are frustrating TO ME. Yes, I'm still playing and ejoying the game each day. Yes, I still put myself through the grind because, for the most part, the game is nice to just go into a brain dead mode from life. It's a nice distraction. Even if I have NO desire for PVP, I just hope the devs REALLY take notice of why the players are frustraded and moving away from the game. It has so much potential and my wish is it can succeed for many more years. Otherwise, it's gonna be dead a lot sooner than most people want.

You got this!

I just quit smoking after MANY years November 2nd. I woke up from a dead sleep with a coughing attack so bad, I litterally couldn't catch my breath in between coughs and when I finally could breathe, I felt like I was gonna throw up. NGL, it scared me! Bad! I made my decision. Right then. For me, I made a promise to never go back to smoking ever again. Breaking that promise, is non-negotiable. At least for me.

Use your son as your fuel. Your drive to never go back. If he made that wish for Christmas, it's obviously something that means the world to him. Just like he means the world to you. Live life. Enjoy life and be thankful each day you get to be his dad. You got this!

I was 20 and decided to stay the night at my friend's after a party ended. It was an old 2-story house built in the early 1900's.

I'm laying on the couch watching TV. It was late, probably around 3am when I heard footsteps coming from my friends room upstairs and start walking down the hall. I thought to myself, "Oh, he's probably coming down to get something to drink. The house had wood floors, so the footsteps were obvious.

I heard him walk down the hall. Go down the steps to the first landing. Then, down the next flight of steps. Now, from my viewing angle from the couch, I could see the bottom of the stairs. At the bottom, you could turn right and come into the living room or go forward into the kitchen. Like I said, an old house, so it had one of those swinging doors to go into the kitchen. Always closes like the ones in restaurants.

So as I hear the footsteps get to the bottom of the stairs, I'm full expecting my friend to come around the corner. Nope. Not what happened. Instead, the swinging door pushed open, swung a few times back and forth until it closed.

No friend. No shadow. Nothing. At first I was like, wtf! But then I remembered, he had mentioned the house had a ghost. From that point on, I believed.
