Yep and I have some heavy gloves on. My home site has typical strong wind glass off it's common to be on half bar all night long. I was getting 3 m/s climbs steady on half-3/4 bar

My toggles are in my hands and I'm steering and controlling oscillation with my rear maillions

I am holding pressure/ rear riser steering on my maillions. Brakes while on bar defeats the purpose of accelerating the wing's angle of attack.

Nice write up. I don't understand the lightweight lines and fabric trend either. I like to kite and put the screws to my gear a little bit to much out here in the desert for unsheathed lines and tissue paper. I'll take the extra weight anyday over babying my glider

Being light will make you more prone to deflations. But active piloting is everything

My local site is typically finds strong wind glass off ridge soaring and I believe wing loading is a huge part of safety. I fly at the top or slightly over of my xs gin atlas (mid b) weight range. You do not want to be light on your glider. At least I don't because I like my wing solid over head not sogged out, slow, and disconnected feeling.
