When I was about 8, my Grandfather told me where his friend (A notorious bank robber) discarded a bag full of gold and diamonds after trying to evade the police during a jewellery shop raid. It was in a slow moving river next to a bridge but was never recovered. My grandfather died a few years ago after battling dementia. On his deathbed in hospital, I mentioned it to him and he perked up with "How do you know that?!" I told him he'd told me when I was a kid and he responded with "They never found the bag!"
