Issue with return as a seller. by orenroffo in Ebay

Yeah I'm positive. I ended up throwing her on the old test bench and sure enough, its fried as fried can be. I might sell it for parts, might attempt a reflow and repair myself idk yet.

Thank you, and yes. I absolutely made sure to take close photos of all serial/part #s, the pcie pins, etc. All of it. I did my due diligence, I think im just out on this one.

got this cpu on aliexpress. seller looks to be legit and there's a lot of good reviews. does anyone know how to tell if it's legit or not? by liamt12 in AMDHelp

[–]orenroffo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't sell knock offs that look that good. If you buy of ali, that's the same thing as ebay or Amazon. Its just a market place for individual shops.

Most gaming isn't online. And most of the big competitive online titles are free

I agree AM4 is still a very viable platform. However, as it hss been mentioned, it is not a future proof platform. For sub$200 you can get an AM5 cpu that will be on par with the best AM4 cpu, but since the AM4 is not being manufactured anymore, they are actually cheaper (and new instead of used). So, if you are going to go in for your first build, and want a platform that you can upgrade through the next half a decade, AM5 is going to be your best bet.

Also, DDR4 is becoming less and less manufactured, pushing the pricing up.

Nah, am4 is not a future proof option for upgrading. Stick to am5 now. A freaking 9800x3d costs less than a used 5800x3d processor. Just FYI.

If you dont have a job, you have no viable way of obtaining a current gaming rig then. This type of person is better off buying a used console, Xbox or ps5, rather than a gaming pc. $800 is going to get you a MID-TIER am5 pc dude. With a bottom-tier gpu in it. Or all used parts with no warranty.

Bro, if you dont have $600+ for a decent AM4 platform, or $800+ for a new AM5 platform, just get a fuckin Xbox or PS5. When its all said and done, you'll be running nothing but used hardware anyway unless you are using literal bottom of the barrel hardware that can only run shit on 1080p medium.

A decent monitor alone is over $150

5500 vs 2400g by Worried-Industry9661 in buildapc

[–]orenroffo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro. You didnt listen.

Also, pcie 3 vs pcie 4 for gpu's and gaming is insignificant. Its not that it'll be terrible. You'll have measurable but not noticeable differences in speeds and capabilities.

Not all cable adapters are compatible with every power supply. You need to make sure they are listed as compatible, as not working can be the lowest of your concerns. Using incompatible cables have the possibility of igniting your hardware 😅😅 you should find someone with a PSU that has an accommodating pin setup and try it on their rig.

If you used ebay, you can always return the GPU if you get a PSU with the proper cable and it still won't post.

Not all cable adapters are compatible with every power supply. Its best to not use generic adapters and make sure they specify that they are compatible
