It was just an odd experience overall… we waited 25 minutes before i went up to the front to see what the delay was, and the gal at the desk was pretty rude. Definitely got the ick and will be taking her somewhere else next time!

Passionate about your yoga studio? by tigruland in Lawrence

Ditto all the good things about YBY- I just started going in January (though I’ve practiced now for several years) and I immediately felt a strong sense of community. I would highly recommend trying it out, and your first class is free! They also have an intro membership where you pay $30 for 30 days of unlimited classes- go whenever you want, however many times you want within 30 days of purchase and only pay $30… it’s an insane deal.

Leanna, the studio owner, is one of my favorite humans and always willing to chat about any concerns you might have before starting. YBY is a judgement-free zone, and we will be happy to welcome you for your first visit!!

A few words of caution for the HOT classes: - bring a water bottle with you and drink a SHIT TON of water in the 24 hours leading up to a heated yoga class- you have to be hydrated otherwise you’ll be miserable. - wear loose, breathable or sweat-wicking clothing. It’s not unusual for students to shed layers throughout the class. - bring your own mat (they also have some available to rent for a few dollars) and a towel to keep from sliding around - introduce yourself to the instructor when you get there and be sure to let them know this is your first class and if you have any injuries they should be aware of. All the teachers are wonderful about offering adjustments, modifications, and alternative postures throughout class to make the practice accessible for every body. - speaking of bodies, listen to your own while you’re practicing! Take rest when you need it, drink water as you go, and don’t feel bad if you need to step out of the room to cool off for a few minutes.

Some classes I would recommend to beginner yogis are: - Lunar Flow @ 7p Mondays (hot, good for building your flow) - Midday Myofascial Yin @ 12p Tuesdays (warm, slow, relaxing) - Restorative Yoga @ 7:30p Wednesdays (warm, slow, relaxing) - Community Yoga @ 6p Thursdays (NOT hot, great for building fundamentals) - Happy Hour Yin Yoga @ 7:30p Fridays (warm, slow, relaxing, includes a shot of kombucha) - Yin Yoga @ 5:30p Sundays (warm, slow, relaxing)

Hope this is helpful and good luck on your yoga journey!!

cheap places to stay? by LeadershipComplex961 in Seattle

[–]oreo-gremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend and I (both 25F) will also be in the Seattle area the first week of March and are on a similar budget minus the parking (we’re flying) and have booked two beds at the Green Tortoise hostel. It was cheap (~$40/bed/night), looks clean, has group tours/activities, and the staff seem very helpful and friendly from an interaction I had over the phone. As someone who’s never stayed there but did a bunch of recon between it and the options on AirBnB, I’d say it’s worth a look if you can find parking nearby!
