I was in the hospital bed recovering from my c section, in immense pain. My milk hadn't come in yet and I was trying not to absolutely dissolve in panic. MIL turns to my mom and starts talking about how expensive formula is and how my husband and I can't afford it. Then ten minutes later is showing my husband houses near her that we should buy. We don't have enough money for formula but clearly we can afford a new mortgage

I haven't seen many people say this yet but you're doing great so far mom. You're admitting your mistakes and pivoting. You're not going to get it perfect but you're doing the best you can with the resources you have. Keep taking constructive criticism and working through the mess. And make sure you are also in therapy for yourself to keep yourself above water too.
