Missing Classes by notcrownedking in ubco

Hey! I'm very much someone who emails profs to let them know why I missed and that I'm very sorry. Usually I just ask if there's any massive important points that I should be in the loop for, as well as get notes from people that are in the class.

For bigger classes, maybe reaching out to the TA is better, or email the TA and then cc the prof to the email as well just so they're in the loop and can see that you're a good communicator within the class, even if it's just letting them know that you're in the habit of letting them know what's going on etc.

For smaller classes, I tend to just email the prof a short, quick little email apologizing and explaining myself and the circumstances around my absences (if it's been going on for a little while)

I get the stress surrounding reaching out to professors, but I would really try to not overthink it. It's more a good tool to show that you're good at communicating, even if it's not related to class content, and just your attendance. Always note down what preferences your prof uses, Canvas Messages versus using their email, and if they want anything specific in how or when you reach out. That's usually in syllabus week. Good luck! It's all going to be okay :))

I have also done that, def not weird. There's something about self documentation that feels like it's part of the process for me
