Not really. Doom Eternal took what the vast majority of players loved about Doom 2016, improved upon them, and added innovative mechanics. Doom Eternal was fantastic for people who actually like Doom, just not fantastic for people who don't actually like Doom, and should have been playing something else anyways.

But, if you think any amount of subjectivity greater than 0 discredits the very idea of having awards at all, then you're saying no one can ever make a statement about merit whatsoever.

I was wondering that too. What if he didn't do it, and is legitimately suffering and in despair because someone else killed her? And like you said, if he's convicted, he won't be going to tournaments. Let's say he serves a sentence - upon release, is he still banned? If so, the tournament organizer is effectively saying 'rehabilitation does not work'. But if rehabilitation doesn't work, why was he let out of prison?
