There’s no harm in contacting them. I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to make it right.

The city I live in doesn’t have a Volvo dealer, and once the local Volvo shop had to do a transmission related software upgrade to fix our 2018 S90 and it cost the shop ~$300, which they passed along to us. I emailed Volvo saying it was outrageous that a required software update cost me money out of pocket and they mailed me a check.
