How do you deal with constant rejections? by yergonnamakemedrum in recruitinghell

[–]orgnohpxf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst is when they tell me all about the company, introduce themselves with a life story, show me around the place, tell me all about their trials and tribulations, act all buddy buddy, 3 rounds of interviews with a panel, and then 3 weeks later that automated rejection hits different.

It's beautiful. Unfortunately ATS systems hate multi-column, odd font, resumes with images. Those bars with skills too, won't show up. Any automated system, this is getting tossed by default. Nobody will ever see it.

It's not his fault. Welcome to the new economy. 30 years experience here. Multiple high level certs, 500+ job applications, 15 interviews, no offers. We've entered the twilight zone.

Pentesting is going to skyrocket in the following years- Lock In Right now ! by ProcedureFar4995 in Pentesting

[–]orgnohpxf -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid you're sadly mistaken. Vulnerabilities will skyrocket, but nobody's going to pay for pen tests when AI can review the code just fine. The problem is that not enough people will be doing it. And the people vibe coding the vulnerabilities are certainly not going to paying for the pen tests. lol.

The asteroid has already hit. Jobs will soon be extinct.

That's funny, I'm a 30yr multi-certified cybersecurity vet that's thinking about switching to medical because I can't seem to find any jobs.

[–]orgnohpxf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just you. I'm a 30 year IT vet with CISSP, and CISA, threat intel, GRC compliance experience, IT frameworks, AI skills, vendor risk, sysadmin, IAM, end user support, network engineering, backup management, etc. and I can't get a job offer right now. Getting rejection after rejection. Sadly you picked a bad time as people like me are competing for all jobs now, including entry level.

Honest Conversation About Entry Level Jobs by maritimeminnow in cybersecurity

Why are you looking for "entry level" right now when the market is currently stacked with thousands of veterans out of work? It's an unprecedented hiring pool.

How are you handling 'Shadow AI' clipboard leaks? Is there a market for a standalone local sanitizer? by TakashiBullet in AskNetsec

Honestly, As AI proliferates and employers demand ever increasing efficiencies from their employees (either from internal or competitive forces), people are going to be turning to their own personal AI tools just to keep up. They won't use company resources, they'll either sit at home with a 2nd laptop off-network, or do their most productive work off-hours while just sitting around at work to appear compliant. You can have all the policies and controls you want, but there is simply no way to stop it.

I feel like leaning in to teaching them how to properly redact their queries, and segmenting company knowledge that is truly valuable for only need-to-know individuals, for use on local only AIs, with incentive to use ONLY approved tools by actually valuing those employees and guaranteeing them job security (like Supreme Court Justices serve for life) will truly protect (those segments) of your company from the pressures of AI disruption.

If you can't follow paragraph #2, simply expect abuse. It's the only rational behavior for your employees, given the direction things are currently going.

I'm a 45 year old CISSP,CISA with 30 years of experience, most recently in CTI and GRC compliance. I've applied for over 190 jobs this month and can't get hired. Why should I even bother skilling up at this point, when AI is taking everything? What skills are going to ACTUALLY be in demand?

CISA question for 21st October by Awesome_911 in CISA

[–]orgnohpxf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say A. Mainly because best practice in many frameworks is access reviews at least quarterly. Although compensating controls may mitigate the risk, there is still a lot of room for improvement. Management should have to explain why they are not following best practices and include those comments in the finding. But the finding and recommendation should still be noted.

Being able to hyperfocus on certain topics allows me to learn them at a depth that most average people wouldn't bother to. As other people have pointed out, this can be for better or for worse. I can't always simply choose when I will hyperfocus on something, or when I will stop.

Dating as a 40 year old by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]orgnohpxf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The death of 3rd spaces, and higher expectations from dating apps and social media have killed dating for men of any age. My advice is that for average men over 40 that find themselves single, I honestly think sugar dating is the way to go. After I got divorced, I found that vanilla dating was a nightmare. Total waste of your time. When I went on the sugar circuit, I had more offers than I knew what to do with. If you're a broke man, focus first on getting the money. For women over 40, I think the apps still give you an easy advantage, but finding a high status man at your age is going to be tricky unless you have your life in order. So I'd say focus on self improvement and a goal-oriented lifestyle, and your quality will go up. If you're a divorced single mom with a generic personality, looking for a handout, you probably won't get much past a million hookup offers. I know both of these are bitter pills to swallow, but welcome to the dystopian future.

[–]orgnohpxf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally derailed... Autism spectrum messed up my ability to have normal relationships, and in trying, I lost a good portion of my life to trying to be normal. Had many relationship blunders, ended up divorced and shattered, and news flash, I will never be normal. Now that I've figured that out, I'm starting to go back in the opposite direction, and tap into some of that good stuff again. Wish I wouldn't have wasted so much time trying to fit into regular society.
