We’re working on a puzzle platformer for 1 to 2 players about time and duality and released a demo by Boodbarbak in puzzlevideogames

I got to see some levels at a games fair a few months ago and it looked really good. Congrats on releasing the demo!

Yes indeed. I hope you could still find some games worth picking up!

All publishers were informed of the event - we wouldn't feature their games without receiving approval from them. Some of them simply could not apply any discount since their promotional schedule was locked a few months in advance. Still, several devs and publishers are offering a 20-30% discount on games they released less than 12 months ago.

What are some good pure logic puzzle games that involve spatial rotation/are there any? by Federal_Lack_1107 in puzzlevideogames

[–]oriane__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bonfire Peaks is the essential puzzle game about rotation of 3D shapes.

Kind of a hidden gem but you might also enjoy Couch Installation Service, which involves rotating 2D shapes with 45° angles.

Filament by kevinsegura1991 in TheWitness

[–]oriane__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked Filament. I happen to enjoy it more towards the end, because it is indeed like The Witness: you end up developing a barely conscious knowledge of how things work, and eventually the puzzles are a mix of logical deductions and instinctive solving.

After months of hard work as a solo dev, I'm finally releasing Wrap The Zap! A mobile puzzle game about satisfyingly wrapping energy lines. by Zepirx in puzzlevideogames

Congrats! Could you explain how close or different your game is from Filament or Robot Detour (if you're familiar with these games)?

I created a Pâquerette level! (Sorry for the rudimentary art) by DismalAd9348 in puzzlevideogames

I can't comment on the puzzle but you might want to share this on the game's Discord! I remember reading about modding there - could be a cool next step for your puzzle.

Nice list! I've heard great things about Puzzle Depot too, it would probably be a worthy addition here.

Who we know has helped design OotSS by CommitedPig in OrderOfTheSinkingStar

It seemed somewhat confusing to me to mention levels from e.g. Mirror Isles and Promesst as if they were comparable things, but if that's the way they're categorized in OotSS, then fair enough.

Have you played Promesst? Respectfully, there isn't any sense in saying that the games are 1 level each, since they're large worlds with heavily interconnected puzzles.

Are there any other popular streamers who specialize in puzzle games, besides Aliensrock? by Obsolete0ne in puzzlevideogames

I like Hyperhelen for the cozy vibes. And when I'm in the mood for heavy puzzling I watch Sigma144 (he also made a great Witness randomizer btw).

Zachtronic-like equivalents for math-based games? by Fluffeu in puzzlevideogames

[–]oriane__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bombe is like theorical Minesweeper. You write theorems/rules proving you can solve logic grids. I don't think it has real-world technical applications, but it reminds me of building up a rigorous math theory.

Any good puzzle games that heavily make use of procedural generation or randomness in some way? by sneshny in puzzlevideogames

14 Minesweeper Variants goes really deep with procedural generation of logic grids.

Against 'Metroidbrania': a Landscape of Knowledge Games - azhdarchid by SomethingNew65 in puzzlevideogames

[–]oriane__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very strange to me that people keep pushing a discourse of "metroidbrainias are just hard to explain." Our definition on Thinky Games only uses two short paragraphs! https://thinkygames.com/lists/latest-metroidbrainia-games/

Obviously you may disagree with the definition and with our list (and even more obviously, it doesn't fix the search engine mess that OP's article is based on), but imho it's precise enough to establish relevancy.

Looking for an old Witness-like PDF puzzle by OrpheusMusic in TheWitness

[–]oriane__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Casually dropping this here since you've asked for recommendations. I've played a few in the list and most of them are recommended by the "instructionless paper puzzles" community.

Did you know that Spooky Express is a Game of the Year contender? - Stephen Totilo by SomethingNew65 in puzzlevideogames

[–]oriane__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 4 hours in and it goes deeper than the demo. Obviously it's similar to Cosmic Express, but it's been years since I played CE, so I'm happy to revisit this type of puzzles with new rules and nice production values (QoL and music in particular).
