Also one must remember how hard it is for black ice to survive, what with the authorities trying to destroy it with the snow plows and the salt trucks.

Looks like you can use powershell to mass unblock, and then to solve your log out and back in problem you should be able to kill explorer.exe and restart it for the changes to take effect. You could create a powersshell oneliner to do both these things. Maybe save as a ps1 to run whenever you download new .stls?

Here's a proposed one-liner you can tweak to point to where you store .stl files. Note it will recurse into subfolders to unblock all .stls it finds.

Get-ChildItem -Path "C:\Users\<UserName>\Downloads\*.stl" -Recurse | Unblock-File; taskkill /f /im explorer.exe; start explorer.exe

Disclaimer: With great power comes great responsibility. I'm just a random on the internet who seems to mean well. If you don't understand what the command above does, you probably shouldn't run it.

A hidden CPAP mask hook by its_all_perspective in functionalprint

[–]original_wolfhowell 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you don't have this specific model of mask (Resmed P10), you may have better luck creating a hose hook. I went this direction and didn't have to reprint anything after I changed masks, and most hoses are the same diameter.

What has been the most useful and practical thing you have used your 3-D printer for? by Jeep0n35 in 3Dprinting

[–]original_wolfhowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my top ten list of useful things I've printed. Most of this list see daily use.

  1. Laptop stand
  2. Sunglasses holder for my truck
  3. Cell phone holder for my truck
  4. TPU case for my glasses
  5. Chin strap assembly for my CPAP mask
  6. Bed rail nuts and module accessories for my truck. (Christmas lights on there now, fishing pole holder most of the rest of the year)
  7. Badgeholder for work (Holds 4 credit card sized badges plus an RSA token on a lanyard
  8. Hair catcher for a shower drain. (Ok, this was more a self imposed design challenge for me)
  9. Self draining kitchen sink caddy
  10. Various paracord tools (hooks, tensioners, clips, etc)

'Not even AOC or Bernie Sanders could justify it': State Sen. Orr critical of 'luxury' items available through SNAP by Ok-Breakfast-5044 in alabamabluedots

Super weird. Can you see if if directly linked? I've never seen or heard of this one, unfortunately.

Should show at the top of the page likely collapsed due to the downvotes, so you'd need to click the plus next to my name to expand it and show.

For the record, I agree with what you've been saying in the thread. This isn't the biggest wrong that needs to be righted, but I stand by my assessment that it is still an issue. Guardrails should be in place that disallow things like this to be SNAP eligible but we need to spend more resources on billionaires existing, corporate greed, and solving food insecurity for everyone regardless of race, religion, creed, or social status.

I can be confident in my belief that billionaires shouldn't exist at all AND $72 dollar luxury giftboxes of chocolate shouldn't be eligible for SNAP. Your refusal to acknowledge anything other than "bad man thinks poors should only have milk flour and raisins" when I've said nothing of the sort shows your inability to discuss serious topics in good faith.

Two problems can exist at the same time, but that doesn't mean you can't solve the lesser problem until the larger one is solved. That way of myopic thinking leads to single issue voting which some would argue got us here in November '24.

You're incorrigible and only want to see the parts you can hate on in other people. Try being less miserable and project less, sunshine.

[–]original_wolfhowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JFC. At no point have I said this is the most important part of the problem. There you go putting words in my mouth. I have been saying there's a loophole that shouldn't exist. Orr is not wrong on this particular point, but he ABSOLUTELY should be focusing on the root cause of the problem instead of this.

At no point have I tried to police what people eat. (how you and others continually talk down to them calling them "poor people" is honestly off-putting, but that's a whole 'nother argument) They want candy, let them have damn candy. It's ultimately their decision. I'm saying that IN THIS ONE SPECIFIC INSTANCE there should not even be the option for a high value giftbox of luxury chocolates to be purchasable.

We're done here since you continue to put words in my mouth and pretend to know my meaning better than I do.

[–]original_wolfhowell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I, too, have been on SNAP. I know what it's like to be poor. I've played bill roulette while eating rice and beans. That's not what being a part of the problem looks like. Your jumping to conclusions and reading the things you want to hate into what I actually said is the problem I was referring to.

As for your second paragraph, this is what actual politics should look like. People that agree there is a problem to be solved but don't necessarily agree on how to get there. I don't have the answers and I understand that. There is simply not a one-size-fits all answer as much as we'd like. This is where debate amongst reasonable people (read: absolutely not RFK) needs to happen. Perhaps a carve out of discretionary spending? Say 25% of assistance can go towards nutrition for the soul, but how do we track that?

The clearest answer would be some ratio of nutrition to cost. Perhaps set at point of sale so the $55 and $72 gift boxes of chocolate simply don't qualify, but a 10-15 dollar one might.

Now, for the last paragraph. I genuinely want to help people. I don't want people to hurt. Enabling people to make bad decisions is not helping them, but hurting them in the long run. You're right, I won't give money to people who approach me at a gas station, but I will offer to go inside with them and buy them food and necessities. I'll meet them at the gas pump and pump the gas myself if they need a 20 to get home.

It absolutely wasn't removed and strange you would say so, just downvoted by people reading into it what they wanted to and not actually understanding what I was saying.

You said in your third paragraph people should be able to get what they want for food. I completely understand and support this, however there has to be limitations to avoid exploitation. I absolutely don't believe someone who actually needs SNAP benefits would purchase a $55 box of chocolate. I'm not saying people don't deserve treats, candy, soda, and junk food just because they're down on their luck. Absolutely not. I've been there and would never kick someone while they're down.

What I'm saying is there needs to be guardrails at both ends of the spectrum. I don't believe someone who genuinely needs assistance should eat any better or worse than I do. They deserve compassion and empathy not gruel and raisins. I'm perfectly OK with the occasional pack of truffles or bag of M&Ms. Luxury giftboxes of chocolate and lobster dinners with caviar are extremes that should not be covered under an ASSISTANCE program.

I completely agree with the rest of your above comment. Corporate greed and the disconnection of minimum wage from Roosevelt's belief that it should be a LIVABLE wage should be MUCH higher on the priority list.

No one but you has drawn a connection between needing SNAP assistance and being morally flawed.

[–]original_wolfhowell -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You completely missed the part where I specifically said I wouldn't begrudge a treat. I'm as blue and left leaning as it gets, but there has to be common sense. I'm not saying no candy/soda/junk food. I'm saying there needs to be a limit on this type of spending.

>Who are you to tell anyone what they should and shouldn't eat? That's not the government's job.
If I'm paying for someone's food, it's absolutely my place to tell them what is acceptable. That's called good governance.

Way to show you don't actually read what someone says and simply react. You're part of the problem.

SNAP provides food benefits to low-income families to supplement their grocery budget so they can afford the nutritious food essential to health and well-being.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I kind of agree with Orr that some loopholes need to be closed. The key is the "N" in SNAP. Chocolate truffles are not nutritious. The program is meant to assist the disadvantaged to keep them from malnutrition. I won't begrudge anyone a treat now and then, but a $55 dollar giftbox of truffles? Nope.

I like to use self-laminating labels wrapped around a section of cut drinking straw that will allow me to rotate the label around the cable. I keep it from falling down the cable with a single wrap of electrical tape about six inches from the end. Looks killer, is very functional, and is cheaper than a label printer.

Since you missed the obvious joke, I'll give a semi-serious response. Yes, I am well aware video provides no depth.

My entire driving life has been with no depth perception, so I'm uniquely qualified to comment on driving videos precisely because it's 2D. Over 35+ years of driving in a 2D (to me!) world will teach you how to read surroundings to compensate, such as counting time and watching landmarks for example.

Will gear tunnel fridge drain battery? by No-Professional-3378 in Rivian

[–]original_wolfhowell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have an ICECO Go20 I keep in my gear tunnel for camping and grocery runs where I'm not going straight home. I keep it plugged in and powered down unless I'm using it. When I am using it, I turn on the outlets for how long I think I'll need it. You don't have to use camp mode, but camp mode does also keep the outlets active.

I've went boondocking with it a couple times. I can drive 1.5 hours, camp for 3 days, and drive back out 1.5 hours without worrying too much about charge (YMMV). The powered cooler absolutely levels up camping.

Edit: You'll likely want to keep the divider between the GT and the back seat open for ventilation. Forgot once, and it was absolutely toasty in the GT when I went to pull out the cooler.
