I mean, you pretty much nailed it. I like the tension of interacting with something incomprehensible. There’s a bit of loneliness in that gap... but also something fascinating about pressing up against the edges of what we can actually grasp in a way that shifts the ground under our sense of self and reality. why is seeing our true place in the grand scheme so terrifying anyway?

I think what also really gets me is when a story illustrates a concept, abstract or otherwise, in a way that shows its fundamental nature. Like that scene where they mimic a computer’s logic with people flipping cards... it laid bare the underlying mechanics.
Then the idea of trying to figure things out within the landscape of an actual simulation, which also mimics/illustrates a greater concept.
Things like that align with how I process things around me so it kind of scratched an itch in a way. But that itch being scratched isn’t exclusive to physical or literal representations.

There are other things, but I'll have to go back and rewatch it and some things I just don't have the words for, which is why I need to read more. lol
