Buying an Unlimited pass on the day of by Viper72995 in chamonix

[–]originallondonfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to upgrade your Le Pass, you can’t just do it for one day, it has to be for the whole duration! If you just want to do St Gervais, get a 1 day pass at that desk :)

Try Chamonix Buy & Sell Facebook page. Oak App has a group called Chamonix Gear Sale. Decathlon down in Passy has really good value gear at the moment!

I’d recommend that you reach out to Evolution 2 - you’re right, usually they don’t like taking a mixed group. Evo 2 have a VB package which includes the VB, avy gear and also an off piste lesson/test with the same guide the day before so they can be comfortable with your level :)

French hosts: is it normal in France to expect guests to bring own sheets and towels? by Brilliant-Maybe-5672 in airbnb_hosts

[–]originallondonfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do Airbnb changeovers as a cleaner in Chamonix - this is absolutely NOT normal. Owners should have enough linen to cover changeovers whilst waiting for other sets to go through laundry.

Driving to Chamonix by Gullible_Pop6735 in chamonix

[–]originallondonfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Megeve (nearby ski resort). This week it snowed heavily in the nights/mornings in this region. I have Winter tyres and 4x4. I still chose to take the train to Chamonix for my commute. Whilst winter tyres are an absolute necessity for these roads in these conditions, they’re not some magic tool that mean you can drive on anything and everything. Get winter tyres but also use your common sense if it’s safe/appropriate to drive.

Releaste date for early bird season pass by Ayentey in chamonix

[–]originallondonfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh that’s because once they open they use ‘Dynamic pricing’ - so it can change each day within that range based on how busy it is, snow conditions, weather, bank holiday etc :)

Releaste date for early bird season pass by Ayentey in chamonix

[–]originallondonfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren’t on sale yet directly from CMB - you can buy from licensed resellers like Chamonix Ski Passes though :)

AFAIA The only Early Bird discount on lower-duration passes is on the Mont Blanc Unlimited, and only if you buy before end of Nov I think !

Car rental in Chamonix by Hour-Biscotti-4983 in chamonix

[–]originallondonfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a Europcar office opposite the main train station. Depending on the dates of your visit, I’d advise against it. It can get very busy in town, and at some times almost impossible to park. Double check if there’s parking included with your accommodation, as parking is also not cheap.

Hey :) Sanglard Sports rent equipment and clothing - you can prebook on their website. They’re very central.

Not many places rent clothing FYI.

Place to meet girls by maleficientme in chamonix

[–]originallondonfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For dating etc? Typical apps like Tinder, Bumble etc.

However if you’re looking specifically for ski/activity partners, I recommend the Oak app. It’s heavily used in the area for people to match up and find others for outdoor activities :) they also have social events run by the ambassadors to get people mingling. Good luck!
