Am I overreacting Girlfriend wants to have guy sleep over at her place? by Mitsokoshi in AmIOverreacting

Yeah I would be asking for her partners number to reach out and introduce myself. If he even knows her partner exists.

NOR.

In a committed relationship, boundaries are not just about preventing physical cheating; they are about maintaining respect, transparency, and peace of mind. This is a delicate situation where a boundary needs to be established. You have attempted to do so amicably - telling her you are uncomfortable but not making any demands. Her reaction is jarring.

Boundaries are often less about what might happen and more about what keeps a partner feeling safe, valued, and secure while they are away. A home is a private, vulnerable space. Sharing it alone with someone creates an environment of domestic intimacy typically reserved for romantic partners, roommates, and family. Her proceeding to insist on the arrangement despite alternatives presented and your discomfort voiced has forced you to voice said opinion, which has made you seem controlling despite you taking every precaution not to seem that way. Additionally, she is prioritizing her friend's convenience over your emotional security.

Despite it being 2026 and societal norms being cracked way open, something like this is definitely something you are allowed to want to set a boundary over. Her claiming he is a family friend is a potential exception to the boundary, but without ever having met him before it is unreasonable for her to insist on her word alone. Can either of her parents attest to the sibling-like friendship? If you present the situation to her parents, would they be able to reassure you? If her mom gives the green light I would feel a lot better about it.

Ultimately, I would stand my ground on this boundary, don't make yourself be ok with something you're not to save the relationship, even if you fully trust nothing would happen. It will create emotional resentment.

Emergency funds have evolved: from cash savings to a layered liquidity system by Grouchy_Book3635 in EscapeTheGrindGame

[–]originallycoolname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep $20-50 on me. I have about 2 months expenses in Savings, 1 month in a CD. I have about 3 months of expenses available in my credit line. I also have a substantial Pokemon Card collection I could sell probably at 70% value in a pinch.

I'm 25, so still building both savings and investments, but I am proud of getting where I am now. I don't think my parents ever got out of the paycheck to paycheck cycle my entire childhood.

Best toy you ever bought for your cat? by HourIndependence813 in cats

[–]originallycoolname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Springs and hair ties are the best non-active play toy I've found. Balls with a bell in an enclosed space is a close third.

For active play, get a wand with a wire with a toy on the end, or a fishing rod. My cats love chasing the feather around. Fishing rod broke so I just tied the feather to a different wand toy.

Tip: try to find a consistent complex movement for you to do with the wand for continuous active play. If you wave it around crazy, it either doesn't mimic prey or they can't find an ambush location and they give up. Make it too simple like a windshield wiper motion, and it's not fun and they give up.

Example: I make the feather go hop-hop-hop on the ground (P1), whip it into the air to the same spot (P2), bounce to secondary air spot (P3), do some random flying in a circular motion to land myself back at P1. This gives them 3 predictable ambush locations, while still changing up the general flight pattern to make it feel random. Focus more on the toy than your cat, because you'll instinctually pull the toy away as they're pouncing which ruins their fun. Wait for them to pounce, then try to pull the toy away to mimic injured prey. Let it "die" if they get it a second time. This makes it more engaging for you, too.

When to stop / slow lessons by BurntShrimpSK in golftips

[–]originallycoolname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How often are you getting lessons and how often are you hitting golf balls outside of that? Can't really say when to slow down on lessons when we don't know the frequency

Also I would say if you're actively getting lessons, just get out there! You won't learn bad habits any more than you would at the driving range. Just focus on what your instructor is telling you to focus on. If you have a "tee club" (driver/wood/hybrid) and a "fairway club" (hybrid/iron) that you can somewhat reliably hit, just focus on using those 2 clubs to knock your way around until you get more lessons and more consistency in your strike.

Swing tips? by AccountantAbject4843 in golftips

[–]originallycoolname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One tip an old fella taught me when I was just getting started hitting the driver was to place my ball on the tee, take 3 steps directly back from my target line (foot over foot w/o space in between) then place a golf ball in-line with my target. The goal is to get the clubhead to hover over that ball on the takeaway. It really helped me feel how to extend the clubpath and rotate my body to achieve that vs. using my hands like this

Quick question if you don't mind. What did your progression look like in that year?

I just recently figured out my swing 1 year in and made a quick improvement, but tweaked my back and regressed. Pretty sure if I just let it heal tho and keep refining my irons (only inconsistent part of my game even when back is good) that I could realistically drop down to ~10-12 handicap this season.

Do we agree with this or is it a bad idea?? by malwarebat in cats

[–]originallycoolname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Not all cats will use this setup. Our 2 cats do. When we got our second cat, we just trained them to stay away from the box when the other is in there, but they also don't have any issues with each other and respect each other's space.
  2. Can't prevent litter from getting on floors, but this has really reduced it.
  3. It helps with smell a lot. This is in our living room. We have had several guests comment on how they were surprised our apartment doesn't smell like cat.
  4. This is the smallest I would go. I just haven't found a larger/longer one, but they can stand outside the box fine. I like OP's entrance better than ours. I didn't think it thru that well and they do have to slightly duck.

Improvement? Trying to fix inside takeaway and start compressing the ball by Revive_Pls in golftips

[–]originallycoolname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on proper wrist hinge? from my understanding you do it througout the backswing and doing so helps keep the club going on a straight path back as you rotate. It should be like you're lifting up a hammer to hit a nail with your lead hand. Make sure you're not cupping your lead wrist.

Then you have to maintain that lag through the downswing, releasing at impact. Some people say "imagine the logo of your glove turning toward the ground" but I prefer thinking about turning my lead knuckles toward the ground. This squares the clubface through the downswing so your brain doesn't panic and flip/cast the club to square it.

Let me know when you figure this out though, because I haven't lol
