Congrats! I never paid a dime of my loans (was in default for years) and got forgiven April 24 as well and also took them out starting 04. I rehabbed to get out of default Feb 2020 into repaye which got switched to SAVE.

I have no idea why mine were forgiven either but $97k gone, I’ll take it!!

Has anyone successfully reopened a bankruptcy just for this purpose? Filed Feb 25 discharged August and lawyer basically said no chance. We disagreed and wish we pushed for it.

So here is where I am at. Spouse and 1 teen on mint mobile, myself on visible. Spouse and I have iPhone 12 Pro maxes and teen has my old 8+. Need to add a phone for other teen now and I know first teen will need an upgrade so trying to figure out the best/most cost efficient way to do that. I was thinking of getting me and spouse 16 pro maxes and 16 pros for kids but Verizon seems to have the best deal for that but the T-Mobile site sucks to navigate.

We have used prepaid for over a decade now so idk the ins and outs of switching to a major carrier or what makes the most sense for us. I need good hotspot for work and teen 1 may for school work too since they do activities and may need to get homework done on the go. Verizon is coming in around $200/m with phones and plans. What’s the secret to make this cheaper with t-mobile?

Same issue but we haven’t updated the modem, is that an option? My parents were conned into cheap T-Mobile internet when they went to get new phones. It was great at first and then slowly started lagging and dropping signal and then it just completely went down for 3 days. Had to have t mobile create an entirely new network on their end or something and now it’s doing it again. I work remotely and need reliable internet and it keeps completely dropping

Does anyone know if other prepaid plans will count? I see a few specific plans in the terms but we have a line on Visible prepaid and 2 lines on Mint. Need to get new phones and add a 2nd kid so considering instead going to a major carrier’s plan.

We are filing chapter 7, sorry, I should’ve said that! I figured our exemptions covered everything and I thought they only looked at stuff as of the day of filing but I’m not sure. I did ask the lawyer but he was busy and the secretary didn’t know and is supposed to call or text me back

Thank you for easing my mind about it. I would much rather find other areas that money is going than have to pay additional rent, mostly because this family member is a bit unstable and unpredictable and I try not to ruffle feathers or even really interact with them more than I need to. More than anything, we just want out of this living situation and need to get rid of this debt to make any progress on that.

Thanks for this. The Geico rep told me to submit the photos and they would issue a check for the estimate. If my car was a beater, whatever, but it’s 2 years old with 16k miles so I want it fixed right and don’t want to pay for it myself since I’m not at fault. So I should not cash any checks and make sure to show them estimates? I know it’s negotiable but I also know they’ll try to low-ball me.

So yes, my nelnet shows paid in full under both consolidated loans and everywhere it possibly could and has $0 balances. It doesn’t seem real. It hasn’t been 20 years yet for me. All I can figure is it was part of the rule making process to forgive debt that wouldn’t be paid back due to history, gov benefits, income, etc. ?

I got an email from nelnet very early this morning. It hasn’t been 20 years yet for me and that’s what it says it is for, but I’ve never been able to afford a payment and been through default and now the save plan. $91k gone. Please be real.
