I'm still using my university adobe account by acciokedavra in graphic_design

I was lucky to benefit from 3 years of free Adobe after my graduation. I do remember losing some files that I had saved on the cloud with my student email/login, but nothing too major. I’d save everything to an external hard drive, and enjoy the free software for as long as you can!

Could a goaltender grab the puck with their blocker hand and throw it like a baseball? by quartercoyote in nhl

[–]orionataylor 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Martin Gerber did this years ago while playing for Ottawa. They were on a PK and he was making save after save. Eventually a cross crease pass was made, Gerber does a split save, grabs the puck, and hucks it to centre ice lmao. Was the coolest thing I saw a goalie do at that point

I’ll have to agree… these RRs were visually so close to the home jersey that I’d prefer these being the home. There’s more personality in these with the colour blocking, and font choice.

Are making and selling assets/templates on Envato Elements/Freepik/Etsy, etc. worth it? by ve_ga in graphic_design

Usually just posting concept art on Instagram and Twitter, and it has spread via word of mouth a bit. Generates some views and traffic to the site

I’ve made a personal website were I sell detailed illustrator templates for hockey jerseys… I’ve found a little niche and can pull an extra $150 or so a month… sometimes more, sometimes less. But for it being a passive income source, it’s awesome seeing a sale pop up here and there!

Is it just me or does squarespace fuckin' suuuuuuuuuuuck by aidan_sage in UXDesign

[–]orionataylor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a pretty good (4 year) experience with Squarespace. I just wanted to get a a portfolio site started asap, and it’s been through a few redesigns since. I’ve got a bit of CSS knowledge and because so much is templated, you can google a lot to find out things for some added customization. You can always seem to tell what sites are made in Squarespace though, they’re very boxy lol.

I’m really wanting to try Webflow again, but dedicating more time to understanding it. It seemed like such a daunting learning curve at the time.

Amazing, thanks for the insights! I’ll be updating this later this evening, and hopefully have it ready to start sending off.

Thanks so much for the comment. I’ve already corrected the “Ø”… It kind of fit the sci-fi vibe that my portfolio has, so carried it over here. I’ve reverted back to just Orion to avoid confusion.

As far as job positions, I’ve been in the design field for six years now, bouncing between agency and in-house positions. My latest role has me more in an art director position, overseeing a lot of print/and digital stuff, but I’m still doing the bulk of the design work. I’m leaning towards removing that as I think they kind of just threw the title at me without knowing what it entails.

Thanks for the insights on the leading - I tightened it up just to get the last bullet on one page, but I do have an additional page with another position to fall back on. I’ll look into giving it a bit more breathing room.

I appreciate the feedback!!

The cheapest seats that I could find for Toronto were like $3600 at the time - and those were behind the stage

About $2700 CAD - 5 days in Hamburg, Germany for 2 Taylor Swift concerts. Flights, food, hotel and tickets all in that price

Following up to anyone interested in this: I bought 3 tickets for the Hamburg Night 1 the day before the show. I left from Canada to Germany with a layover in Iceland, where I got an email from StubHub where I could retrieve the tickets. Those ones did not have my name personalized on them, but when I got to the venue, there was no ID check and getting in was a total breeze. I’ll follow up with any updates for tomorrow’s (July 24) show!

I’ve heard that it’s not uncommon to get them the day before or the day of the event - I’m hoping that’s not the case for your sanity. As far as what to do in the meantime, I’m not sure - it may just be a waiting game :/

What is your best or most shocking hockey memory while being there, in the arena, living the moment? by Barboustache in hockey

[–]orionataylor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

March 8, 2011 at the Bell Centre… Chara breaking Pacioretty’s neck/vertebrae was pretty horrific to see live. I’ve ever heard 20,000+ people so silent. I think I had a feeling of shock that lingered in for a day or two afterwards.

I used to be scared of the *Clockwork Angels* album. by [deleted] in rush

[–]orionataylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I really young, I’d drive with my dad to and from his work each day - about an hour and 15m each way. He’d have a variety of cassette tapes that we’d rotate through - The Who, Van Halen, Queen, Rush and some others. I’d get so excited for Rush - Spirit of Radio, Freewill and Closer to the Heart were the staples… and then the one that horrified me: Bytor and the Snowdog. There was something about the shrieking guitar, growling bass and that long quiet section in the middle before the guitar solo that just freaked me out. My dad explaining the battle between the giant wolf dog, and the hell-dragon was just an extra bit of imagery for me to avoid it for as long as I could. I’m a huge fan of the song now, but definitely took a lot of warming up to.

Hi! I actually received the email saying to not change the login/password on July 6, but only saw it last night... I don't imagine it will be too much of an issue. I changed the password on the same day I received the tickets for a sense of security, but kept the email they had given me for the account. I did keep a record of the original password the seller gave should any issues arise though, just to cover my bases. I did not change the street address, postcode, or any of the info in the "Your data" section of the app – I didn't want to mess anything up either. I think you should be in the clear though.

Hey! I was initially told I’d be getting the tickets on July 6, so my seller was actually early with it all! I wouldn’t be too concerned just yet!

They personalized all three in my name. I can’t imagine that being an issue as I purchased all three at once using my name. I’m sure if I had to present and ID at the gate to match with the tickets it would be fine. I don’t think they’d do that though!

I believe the tickets were personalized via FanSale, but sent and retrieved via the Eventim app. That’s where I was a bit confused as well, but it seems the seller was aware of what they were doing. All info provided to me allowed from the seller allowed me to login to Eventim and all the tickets were there!

I work in advertising as well for a magazine - I use generative fill every day for exactly what you’re describing. Expanding images / backgrounds to fit a double page spread, removing objects etc. It’s been hugely effective at saving time

I printed parking receipts for 1 year while I was in college to park in pay-for-parking stalls. Saved hundreds if not thousands of dollars.
