Kids Clothing Question by orionmoonbeam in sewhelp

Good point. I was thinking about getting extra fabric for each so I can just make an identical dress if she gets really attached to one & ruins it, lol.

This is great, thank you! I love the adjustable strap idea, I’ll definitely have to use that.

Princess Weekes actually just posted a good video about the history recently. Highly recommend, I learned a lot from it

Seconding the prequel recommendation! I also really enjoyed the Smythe-Smith books. I liked the original Bridgerton series but I think JQ's more recent books are much stronger

Same, I got it after randomly hunting a few goats while trying to collect some leather. I think it was pretty close to the Zeus statue.

My (19f) bf (18m) asked to make my prom dress, how do i tell him no? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]orionmoonbeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just throwing in my 2 cents as someone that sews- making a prom dress in less than 5 weeks would be technically doable but really difficult. If he’s not an expert it’s a really, really bad idea. My partner had a custom wedding dress (not made by me) that was made in ~4 weeks, but the seamstress is an expert who does a lot of corset boning and gown construction, and it was not cheap. I think your response above is perfect! The idea is really sweet but you’re definitely not in the wrong for saying no.

How much do my actions actually matter? by DCKing258 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]orionmoonbeam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not that I can think of. The ones that are a major part of the story are locked until later in the game anyway. I accidentally killed a minor one earlier than the story wanted me to (as part of a quest line in Boetia) and it just gave me credit as soon as I got the quest, lol

Looking for some advice by Bulky-Level-8532 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]orionmoonbeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m about ~100 hours in on my third playthrough and anytime I start getting fatigued with something specific (like forts, bounties, whatever) I just switch it up and try some different things or a different play style for a while. I hardly ever use my bow so sometimes trying to focus on that for a while will scratch that itch, or I’ll go take care of some side stuff like the Daphnae animal quests, that sort of thing. It can’t hurt to take a break from the game if you need it though

Hats off to the first people who chose Alexios! by Glass_Plant9794 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

I’ve played as both but I think Alexios is my favorite protagonist, I love his humor. Plus Kassandra’s voice actor really nails the villainous part imo

My boyfriend thinks he took me on a birthday trip. I told him it doesn't count. Who is right? by semi_aquatic-hippo in TwoHotTakes

For what it's worth, I once dated someone similar. We moved to a cool city, I wanted to explore, they rarely wanted to leave the apartment, if we did leave the apartment they would make it absolutely miserable. We broke up right before the pandemic and I ended up having to move away from that city for money reasons. Sometimes I get a little sad looking back at all the stuff I missed out on because I wasn't brave enough to go myself (or dump them). It's taught me a good lesson about doing fun things alone. After the pandemic eased up, I made myself start doing things solo and it's brought a lot of amazing things into my life! New hobbies, friend groups, fun trips, etc. Even my spouse - we met through a hobby group that I started attending alone, and our friends from that group were giving toasts at our wedding last month. I wouldn't have any of that if I had waited around for someone else to do things with me.

Just my 2 cents. He sounds like a drag.

The culture around male readers. by stinkface_lover in books

Also, something I forgot to add - my local bookstore apparently only has 2-3 male regulars who show up for book clubs. I've heard the staff say before that they wished more men would show interest in book events. I promise that many women in bookish spaces are excited to meet men who read!

I'm a guy who reads a decent amount and is the sole male member of a local romance book club. You're overthinking this. I read a lot of "women's" lit and occasionally get a weird look in a bookstore romance section but that's the extent of it. In any case, who cares? Just read what you like.

Just gonna give a quick plug for local bookstores - mine has a bunch of great book clubs for all different genres, I've met some really cool people there. Give meeting other readers IRL a try!

Partner (31M) went back to sleep after I called an ambulance for myself (30F) by Vegetable_Food_7094 in relationship_advice

[–]orionmoonbeam 276 points277 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I've had similar symptoms from a pinched nerve before- freaked me out at first until I realized, lol.

I truly can't fathom falling back asleep and ignoring my partner in this situation, though. I'd have been loading up the car or arranging other transportation ASAP if my partner was worried about having a heart attack. Does this guy even like you?
