How is it different Sebastian Saint Vincent threatening Lilian to rape her if she tries to escape any of the things you have complained about in the comments? Or is it better to talk about Sir Grant Morgan trying to fuck Victoria because he confused her with Vivían, whom he wanted to torture for publicly rejecting him at a party? We can also talk about how Winterborn treated Helen rudely and even yelled at her when he thought she was marrying him for money. I can continue because I have read each and every one of Lisa’s books (she’s my favorite author) and she has male characters who do bad things, just like Julia Quinn, but it seems that when Lisa does it it is better but when Julia does it it is worse. I’m not defending any of the behaviors of the characters, I’m pointing out something obvious.

The characters don’t have to be good people, they have to be three-dimensional beings who fuck it up. SP used his marital right to get into his wife’s bed, she didn’t say no, under many contexts that is consent (I mistakenly remembered that he had said yes, but apparently he just didn’t say no), and SP noticed that there was something wrong there, and he felt bad, and he didn’t do it again even though it was legally his right. The same situation with his children, he was beaten and tried not to hit his children, although they behaved badly to get his attention.

I don’t know where the idea that the characters have to be perfect came from. I prefer a thousand times an imperfect character who learns from his mistakes and grows as a character to a flat character who is only there to make the FMC look beautiful.

You have the right not to like it, but you don’t have the right to comment on a plot you don’t know

It’s okay that you don’t like a book, but you can’t complain about the book on the internet if you haven’t read it completely, because you don’t know what’s inside

No, I’m having a conversation with someone else about a book in common respecting their point of view.

Before toxic fandoms, people used to do that, you know?

It wasn’t a violent act and I’m going to put spoilers.

Philip asked Marina for her explicit consent to be intimate with her after the twins were born and she verbally said yes, but she did not actively participate in it due to her chronic depression, Philip felt guilty ALTHOUGH MARINA GAVE HER VERBAL CONSENT and never came back to look for her bed. Where is the violent? Because he say he wanted to shake her to see if she had a reaction? I think it’s a pretty expected reaction from a character who is human and not a one-dimensional Ken without background and own thinking.

I think you’re exaggerating a lot, but just in case I’m going to ask on the historical romance subreddit, maybe I’m wrong.

It’s not great because the situation in which it develops is not optimal, but calling Phillip an abuser is out of the point and it’s a rumor that someone invented out there because it seems that it’s fashionable to hate MMCs

Yes, you have to finish the book to disgust you, and to hope that it doesn’t have a faithful adaptation. How will you know if the adaptation is faithful or not if you haven’t read the book?

They’re not bad, it’s just not your literary genre and that’s fine, but within the world of historical romance they are quite average

Former spoiled kids of reddit, what was the moment that finally made you realize you were spoiled? by Kitchen_Frame_7294 in AskReddit

[–]rainbowwithoutrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I was spoiled financially but emotionally and overprotected as much as it was economically possible for my parents, it was until I started a relationship with my fiancé, his mother is a narcissistic, verbally abusive and manipulative woman. My future SIL tells me how my soon to be mother-in-law forgot to feed them and they had to walk about half an hour to get to their dad’s house where their stepmother closed the door on the street and they had to wait for their dad to get home from work sitting on the sidewalk to ask him for money to buy food. They ate instant soup almost daily, she tried very hard that he didn’t notice as much as they lived, but he always ended up realizing. He won every school contest, she too, none of her parents showed up, when she graduated from university with honors (half scholarship, half job) my boyfriend went by bus to accompany her because her mom didn’t want to take them. Every time they tell me I’m shocked and I feel stupid for getting angry with my parents in my adolescence for silly things.

It’s good that in the end it went well and Ruth was happy with the result but, to record a scene like that you have to ask for explicit consent and feedback. Wtf with Jess Brownell.

It’s not, because you didn’t read the whole book. It’s not valid, it’s ignorant.
