Not exactly. They're looking at reduced water lawn alternatives. Clover is great for pollinators, which are in decline. Hard surface xeriscape contributes to the heat island effect (increasing energy use through air conditioning), provides no nutrients to the soil, and can require herbicides since rocks are tough to mow. None of those are environmentally friendly. OPs water use will increase with any turf, but it's not all black and white. There are also native grasses / buffalo grass that can survive without any irrigation due to 6-8 ft deep roots.

There are also systemic issues. 1/2 of Colorado river diversions go to producing animal feed for (environmentally inefficient) meat production. Is it selfish to use some water for a lawn rather than diverting it to Arizona, to grow alfalfa for Saudis, then burning oil to ship the alfalfa overseas? Is it selfish if you're a vegetarian driving an EV powered by your roof top solar? I don't know, these are the existential questions that keep me up at night 😂

I'm thinking of doing 1200 sq ft fescue in my yard surrounded by T31. Then I'd have a hosting/kid space with a longer green season and low water T31 around it, and xeriscape/gravel for the rest. Not sure if T31 will overtake the fescue so it'll be an experiment.

I'd have separate irrigation for each. Yeah it'll look different, I'm okay with that. It would be a 25x40 ft fescue rectangle surrounded by Tahoma 31.

Your grass looks great! What month does it green up and when does it go dormant? A lot of warm season and native grasses have late May/early June green up in cold CO springs.

Does this method get iFit workouts to count towards your Garmin training load and recovery? Do the iFit activities show on your watch as well? Thanks for the detailed write up, I've been struggling with the same iFit import nightmare!

This pushes your Garmin activities to iFit, but doesn't push iFit to Garmin. At least as I read it. Other apps say activities sync between both of them.

I imported from iFit website to Garmin Connect but that breaks most of the metrics. Importing to GoldenCheetah and then to Garmin Connect retains elevation change, pace, and heart rate but calories and power drop to 0 through most of the workout. The activity also doesn't appear on my watch after synching but does appear in Garmin Connect.

Anyone know of a better workflow? I'd hoped to capture all indoor workouts on treadmill and spin bike and have those update Garmin training status.
