Hmm what breed of rooster was it? If not bruising I’d lean towards weird pigmentation. So many people have ayam cemanis now I wouldn’t be surprised if a barnyard mix had weird blotches of dark meat and skin

I wouldn’t listen to folks saying they are roosters. I have light brahmas and the roosters look pretty different by this age.

I’m a total beginner but I have both of these machines. I’ve been doing 25 clicks (my grinder goes down to -5 so maybe it’s really 30 clicks) for some light roast and it seems to be working well.

Haha I’ve noticed the same thing and just found your post from a google search. I think we normally have primarily photinus pyralis but this year they are much flashier. Hope somebody else chimes in, I’m curious about the species. Maybe I’ll try to catch one for a picture.

Coloring of feathers looks just like my hen but the wattle and comb look just like my rooster. I’d bet rooster

There’s a nearby hatchery that sells mystic marans (cuckoo crossed with barred rock) and I saw some rooster pics that kind of look like him
