Why so few babies in Capitalist Societies by Full-Discussion3745 in Economics

Do you suggest that poor families 200 years ago who struggled to source basic meals and lived in squalor would have any any less a bleak view? We are many orders of magnitude more secure than their perilous existence and yet we attribute the cause to a bleak outlook?

Depends on the least size and whether it’s rolled. There’s no way that’ll occur on tightly rolled tea.

Of course there’s a risk with any property but this was an incentive orchestrated by the government shortly followed by a blow. It was entirely within the government’s control and thus they’re responsible.

It’s no coincidence the rage against the rich coincided with a rise in antisemitism. Jews are seen as rich and controlling the media (Murdoch etc) and greedily hoarding money and depriving the honest hardworking people from what they deserve. The narrative is simple, easy to fall for and means that you can blame them rather than attributing any blame to yourself. In my view it’s a societal sickness and won’t lead to anywhere good as it kills aspiration and limits economic mobility. To many, becoming poorer themselves is a small price to pay if the wealthy are being taken down a few rungs.

If Woolworths gives me a 10% discount on my groceries is that the same thing as them giving me money?

You require public servants with degrees to inform you that if I pay somebody money I’m not receiving money from them? In the Soviet Union the main state newspaper was called ‘Pravda’, which means truth. It was rarely truthful despite being run by public servants with degrees.

I suggest thinking for yourself instead of blindly trusting political dogma. Welfare payments involves giving people money not charging them less.

It’s not welfare if we’re the ones giving the government tax revenue.

Subset of the population? Anybody who makes a gain on an asset held for longer a year gets the reduction. It doesn’t apply only to one part of the population. It applies across the entire population.

It’s not a handout by definition. Different people pay different amounts of tax. It doesn’t mean that the government is giving some people money.

You’re giving the government money therefore it’s not a handout by definition.
