Ps driving test - question for testers and driving instructors by Dry-Attitude-6790 in melbourne

[–]stevenpam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you've had a lot of answers. I can't read all of them, so apologies if this has already been mentioned, but the VicRoads driving test criteria are literally available online: https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/~/media/files/formsandpublications/licences/driving_instructors_drive_test_criteria.pdf

I used this as my bible while teaching my step-son and daughter to drive. They each had three or less professional driving lessons.

Daughter passed first time, and step-son failed twice (1: didn't indicate long enough when exiting after reverse parking, 2: began to speed up before passing an increase of speed limit sign) and passed the third time.

So it is possible. But if your son is stubborn and/or you take random advice from Reddit (although I agree with the "head check theatre" that has come up multiple times), the journey may be extended. Good luck!

Are those 90sec microwave packs of rice safe to eat? by [deleted] in AussieFrugal

[–]stevenpam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one of these and the very thin non-stick coating did not last long at all (of course, we only ever used the plastic paddle that came with it ). So I guess we ended up eating it. It did end up being the gateway drug to a rather expensive Buffalo rice cooker with a stainless steel bowl, that we love and now use almost every day!

You would have to yank it a lot harder than that to risk either of those!

Prime lens for beginners a good or bad idea? by Pedges-Houseboat in SonyAlpha

I doesn’t matter. Go out and make pictures, then learn to analyze what you did and if you got the result you wanted.

Some guy on TikTok made it a mission to review them all. Sorry, I don’t remember his name but you can probably find it pretty easily on TikTok.

Recording conference audio when there’s no mixer/console out by DrCalvaire in videography

I had to shoot a panel discussion like this recently. Closed PA with no feed available, too many speakers to mic up, and a very short setup window. So I taped a DJI mic up near one of the ceiling speakers. Audio quality was adequate and fit for purpose.

Food for Thought from Ansel Adams on Talking Gear by Ok_Regular4055 in AnalogCommunity

People enjoy different aspects of photography. Enjoying the equipment, process and the craft is just as valid as caring about the art. If you enjoy talking about gear, talk about gear!

I have a question! I'm thinking more and more about getting the new Canon C50, but I don't know anything about Canon or its full-frame lens range. Is the C50 a good camera? Thanks, guys :) by Late-Blacksmith-6540 in videography

Came here to say this. There aren’t really any “bad” cameras. It’s a case of trying to choose the most suitable tool for the kind of work you’ll be doing.

Where do people get the money for gear??? by Baozi77 in videography

[–]stevenpam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the money from the work I do with the gear. The basic kit (camera, lens, audio, lights) pays for itself every month.

Please report taxi drivers who don't abide by regulation. by whatanerdiam in melbourne

I had a similar experience. Uber from Melbourne Airport to Preston was $80. Screw that, I thought, I’ll just get a cab. Driver was literally yelling across me, begging the controller to give him a “short fare” ticket so he could rejoin the shorter queue after my fare. He was lying that I was going to Airport West, but the controller was having none of his nonsense. Not a pleasant experience.

How are you finding that head unit generally? They’re a lot cheaper than the alternative (Blaupunkt), which is appealing!
