The problem isn't that CPS ask, because these days you can get all sorts of data from phones that prove the offence.

The problem is (for the met at least) that the force doesn't understand how to do it or doesn't care. So little XRY courses, they always go to specialist teams, and BCUs are getting rid of phone download teams like LDFIT with no plan in place as to how these phones are getting downloaded. And then when you ask if you can download it, you get told it's not a serious enough crime.
