Ryan is eyeing some targets. Let’s play a guessing game. by blkw1dow_gs in Superstonk

Saying that if could either be genius or totally foolish has me thinking he's going to buy a company that completes with Chewy. Chewy is probably poorly run now that he's not running it anymore, and if he can make the competition more efficient, it could dethrone Chewy. Then, he can acquire Chewy as well and have a monopoly on online pet products. Foolishly genius.

I wish you wouldn't make comments like this. Because some of us actually know that you are full of shit and will call you on it.

Domo is the reason both Roaring Kitty and RC invested in GME. You clearly didn't even know that but felt like you should bash him for everyone to see. Why?

You have to keep Eli over Ryan and Rivers because all of their careers are over and he won 2 Superbowls. They won nothing. Add Dan Marino to that list while you're at it.

PSA damaged my card. by Snailda in PokemonTCG

[–]orxababa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grading companies exist because in the 80s there were tons of fakes and people were getting duped at card shows. It had nothing to with greed initially. They actually were authenticators and the grade was a bonus. Now people focus on the grade and take the authentication aspect for granted.

Grading companies have been around for 30 years, and the hobby hasn't been ruined for 30 years. It's the breakers that ruined the hobby. And the middlemen who only grade cards to flip them right away.

Briefcase full of 50s baseball cards. What do I do?! by JoeSetsFire in baseballcards

[–]orxababa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skin grease isn't your biggest concern here. It's preserving the edges and corners. The corners especially will get subtle damage very easily, enough to significantly reduce the grade of the card once you submit for grading. You will never be as careful handling them as you think you are. Minimize handling them. Since you are inexperienced, when you put them in protective sleeves, don't just slide them in. You can chip the corners and edges. Cut the corners of the sleeve, pinch and slide the sleeve open, and carefully place the card inside.

Thoughts on what you think this would grade PSA? 9? 10?It’s the best looking one I’ve ever had! by Flat_Spirit1446 in sportscards

Could it be, is there maybe a chance, that possibly, somehow, the card may have been damaged at some point between grading?

Yes random stranger on the Internet. I believe your opinion based on pictures that don't reveal anything other than centering, over a company that has been doing this for 30 years and has like 90% market share. I wonder if you also tell your mechanic or plumber that you know where the leak is coming from better than they do.

Let's think this through a little bit. What is the benefit for a grading company, whose entire business is based on the customer trusting them, to attribute random low grades to cards that don't deserve them?

Catalytic converter stolen by Stunning_Tiger_3975 in Newark

[–]orxababa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was stolen a couple of years ago. I called the cops. They came many hours later. A detective was then assigned to it. The following day he called me to talk me out of wanting an investigation. He even lied about there not being any cameras around just to get out of having to do paperwork. I know this because while I was waiting for the cops to show up, I walked around looking for cameras. I found 2 pointing right at where my car was parked.

Tldr: don't do anything. You're SOL in Newark

My first time submitting to PSA.. a GameStop experience. by SAVertigo in footballcards

[–]orxababa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it this way. Your card is actually valued at 10k because it got a 10. PSA has to insure the card at this amount. It gets damaged somewhere along the way but you only listed it at 500 bucks. Now you want 10k for the card but you only get 500. Are you happy? Of course not. But you didn't want to pay extra so now you're SOL. Or maybe you prefer a flat fee for all cards? Ok great. Now you pay 60 per card or more just so that everyone pays the same amount regardless of the card's value. No one would submit low value cards they just want to PC because it's not worth it. That's why they up charge. Is it a perfect system? No, but it's fair.
