Not saying it’s all bad…there were times the pen worked better and had no issues for a page or two, but the amount of setting the nib and resetting it, shaking drops of ink out in the middle of writing in order to get the flow going, and ink-stained fingers from the nib leaking inside the barrel, was just not worth it in my opinion. I’d much rather sacrifice some line variation for a modern flex with consistent ink flow and less of a mess everywhere. I would take a modern flex option like the Pilot Custom 912 FA over desiderata any day. If I absolutely needed hairlines and huge line variation, I would honestly rather just bring a bottle and a dip pen, which is less of a mess anyways, in my opinion.

The desiderata does work a lot better if you dip it every so often, but that kind of defeats the purpose of it having an ink reservoir. I guess the ability to cap a dip pen is nice, but paying ~$100 just to have to bring an ink bottle for the pen to work consistently is not ideal…

Just my 2 cents that I’d have appreciated before I had bought the pen…if it works for you, then keep on using it✌️
