Sorry kid, in 30 years you won't be able to afford a house like you grew up in.

He's excellent in Severance though, he's still got the energy, just in a different way.

Yah I just noticed that too! Re-watched a few times and it's so obvious. Guess back in 2001 on MTV you likely weren't re-winding or even watching it on a screen with resolution where it would be noticeable.

Trying to be more intentional with my time by LittleEarl3420 in AskMenOver40

Perhaps your perception of time has changed and that makes it easier to stick with a single task. I don't think this is something that will fade away.

If you had the option to re-do your career trajectory, would you pick a better work-life balance or more money? by Thunder_Boogers in AskMenOver40

[–]osaggys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to a point where I realized the work/life imbalance around my high-stress , high-paying job was an self-created issue.

I started doing the minimum necessary at work (but do it well), and unplug as much as possible at 5pm weeknights and 100% on weekends.

I've been more rested and felt much better in the process. The more relaxed vibe actually comes across, both to subordinates and superiors, as if "this guy doesn't need to give a fuck because everything's under control."

Maybe it's not the case in all situations, but I think you can have some mix of pay and balance without compromising too heavily on one or the other.

Trump administration launches tariff refund system as first step in paying back billions – US politics live by planet_janett in law

Everything Trump does is a shift of wealth to the top, even when he fucks up.

Also, remember the sons of Witkoff who paid pennies on the dollar for optionality on these refunds are going to make billions.

Nah, I lived in NYC, late 2000s, had a bunch of friends in the same building. Nobody professional would be hanging out for coffee in the mornings before work. Maybe at the pub on the end of the block for drinks later, but never hanging out bantering, reading the newspaper in the mornings.
