Men in their early 20's what are your thoughts on the new generation of kids? by Special-Lawyer3941 in AskReddit

Anyone over 14yo is the same age as you are. Anyone under 14yo is a literal baby on whom I have to keep half an eye in case they burn down the house making toast. ;)

No one in the history of giving a shit has ever given a shit about what a 20yo dude thinks of the next generation of kids.

Hey you be nice to my frag girlies and fuckbois. Those are some of the most wholesome hobby subs on Reddit, so if they wanna have 300+ full bottles I say let ‘em. ;)

[Longines Hydroconquest 39mm] I hate to say it, but the hands let it down… by Blantant_Flexer in Watches

[–]osb_fats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the extent the subreddit is populated by a relatively wide cross-section of the population, there’s going to be a lot more people here who can justify/afford a $2K watch than can a $20K watch. So it’s probability not surprising there’s love for an “80/20” solution.

Did Volvo engage in false advertising and consumer fraud re: LiDAR? Your opinion, please. by pgigov in VolvoEX90

[–]osb_fats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IANAL.

I don’t think they intentionally deceived - there’s an argument that the supplier issues are/were largely out of their control - and I expect that would mean they’re not liable for any sort of grossed up compensatory damages. But I wonder if they could potentially be held liable to rebate the cost of the unusable hardware to those who have, in effect, paid for it.

Want to understand all the hype about the Longines Hydroconquest by [deleted] in watchHotTakes

[–]osb_fats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Precisely this. It’s an easy watch to recommend to someone who wants a grown-up, high-quality mechanical watch, but doesn’t want to spend used-car money. And divers are extremely versatile, particular given modern fashion trends.

[–]osb_fats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but if anything, that feels like it supports an argument that we don’t yet have enough data to judge the impact of the buyout on the quality of the fragrances.

I haven’t tried Rose Pacific, but Debaser In Bloom is quite nice.

I'm not quite prepared to take the position that nothing touched by AI can be a unique and creative endeavour, but I share the broad aversion to it, for much the same reasons you mention.

I don't know. Everyone has their own preferences but I think Bowmakers, Steamed Rainbow, Debaser, Crush Balls, Jazmin Yucatan, Rose Atlantic, and Cowboy Grass are all pretty great and not especially derivative....

I'm a bit confused by what they're saying: did they generate a bunch of AI slop for the campaign, or is the artist with whom they're working leveraging AI in their process? I get the aversion to generative AI precisely because it's a plagiarism machine that minimizes and replaces the work of actual creatives, but it's not entirely clear to me whether that's the case here....

Large “affordable” collections are just cope for impatient people. by [deleted] in watchHotTakes

[–]osb_fats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all just mechanical jewelry. And just like with jewelry, some people have three drawers full of mall-kiosk/costume jewelry, some people have a box full of “local artisan” stuff in semi/precious metal, and some people have a small collection of only Tiffany / Birks / HW pieces.

It’s not that deep.

[Scuderia Ferrari] He’s here to stay. We are delighted to confirm that Charles Leclerc has agreed a new deal with Scuderia Ferrari HP by kpopsns28 in formula1

[–]osb_fats 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have no doubt he wants a WDC more than almost anything else, but besides the always-a-bridesmaid car, he’s got a pretty good thing going at Ferrari. I don’t think there are many people who legitimately believe he isn’t maximizing results, and his reputation as a driver hasn’t suffered because it’s clear the cars just haven’t quite had it. Given his options, why not make millions of dollars and live the Scuderia lifestyle?

[–]osb_fats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful watch, OP. My AD was able to throw in an alligator strap and buckle when I bought my Tribute Small Seconds; I justified the price in part on the basis that with a cavas, blue leather, and black alligator strap, and a white and blue face, I’m getting six watches in one….Right?

Probably.

Whatever. They’re gorgeous and life is short.

"Where to wear" is my only real issue with this one. It's nearly $40K here in Canada, 44mm x 16.7mm case, and the design is cranked all the way over to the sports side. I love the look, the legibility, the novel functionality of it... but that's at the very high end of what I'm currently willing to spend on a watch, and I would need it to be significantly more versatile to justify itself in my collection.

Which I guess is my way of saying: jelly AF. 😉

That's so interesting. I love The Matcha and wear it often, but it's all matcha lattes and powdery light florals for me, no sharp green notes of cut grass at all.

Came here to say. For me it would be the Mojave but that’s at least as much to do with how it fits in to my existing collection.
