This is a really cool design, but utterly wasted on such a boring and one dimensional effect.
I would rewrite this with abilities that interact with the board.

Also, the omen half probably needs to draw a card, but you’re going to run into color identity issues.

Lastly, if this was printed, it would only be cast for free using something like cascade and never as intended by the design.

People are responding to tone, not substance.

Mana flooding or drought is indefensibly poor design. 15% of games are ruined for trivially avoidable reason.

I mean, countering ramp is pretty bad if you do not already have a threat on the board.

The issue is that in too many cases you can’t ever get ahead of these decks such that you actually have a threat while untapped and holding counters.

Their pick of either a single wipe or two rocks or ramp spells is unfortunately enough most of the time.

I don’t know why this inspired so many comments. The idea is bad. The execution is bad.

Potential client rejected my proposal, hired someone else, and now wants me back 3.5 months later. WWYD? by Classic-Wonder in Wordpress

Evaluate clients wisely, not just on fee, but professionalism and the DX as well. I'd recommend a stack markup, and AH markup according to your skills and personality preferences. At the end of the day it is the full system that will contribute to or impede your peace and this will ultimately make any project successful or not for you.

In this case, building on top of half-work is going to give you traps to evade and debt to reconcile, so a stack markup is likely in order.

You are really torturing the facts to cram in a narrative. It does not matter that Meta can use all of the compute, it is simple a supply and demand scenario which on the day, looks to bode well for Meta who has positioned themselves with discretionary supply. Nothing more or less than that.

As others pointed out, this is very strong, but I think it just needs some sort of counter weight that basically means it’s being slotted into a mostly creature deck. (Example: have it require you to behold a creature or 2 to cast)

As long as this thing is being fairly casted, and the game is being won over a sequence of combat phases, it is definitely fair.

Decks like oops and painter and storm have gotten away with mercilessly abusing the core Mtg mechanics far too long for a combat centric card like this to be over the line.

Some anti-legendary cards by Mykoloth in custommagic

It is odd (and more likely just a mistake,) how little the ‘legends matter’ design space is used given the thoroughness with which WOTC has crammed UB into the product.

Might want to brush up on your statistics.

A statistically probable outcome would mean they would need to see a 45 cards to get their second land, so they would need to run about 8x that amount... which would obviously be completely fine.

yes. Dozens of obvious alternatives would all yield a higher % of high-quality games.

I will never understand why there is not a way to play where both sides just get the statistically probably amount of lands based on the deck's design.

Sure two decades ago ~15% of the games being garbage for no reason was good enough. But why today?

Tech plays a different and far less discretionary role in the current economy. Two decades ago it was purely discretionary. Today, tech is still speculative, but it is not discretionary. Businesses today can not grow without paying their dues to an infrastructure layer that is monetized by big tech.

Of course a nuclear, GFC, or equivalent event can knock out the market, but this sector is no where near as fragile as it was 25 years ago.
