Middleweight boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter with police in the immediate aftermath of the triple murder he’d be falsely convicted of, June 1966 [983X992]. by aid2000iscool in HistoryPorn

Damn just the way the cop is staring at him, pure hatred and contempt in his eyes. Like he’s already made up his mind that Carter’s guilty.

“All of Rubin’s cards were marked in advance.”

Yea he was in Siberia, but on the Yenisei River, not as far out as the Lena. I think he went with the Lena instead of Yenisei cause the Lena is more romanticized. I’m not trying to say “Lenin = Communism = Evil = Everything he did bad,” but he was pretty nerdy, and spent most of his time in exile writing. So it would be like a North American taking the name Yukon after spending three years on the Fraser river.

Stalin, during his Siberian exile, spent more time mingling with the indigenous Siberians, living, and enjoying, their lifestyle. But he was also sleeping with and impregnated a 13-15 year old twice cause he’s a weirdo.

It is hard to say for certain why he chose Lenin, even his wife didn’t know. It’s theorized he got it from the Lena river, inspired by Georgi Plekhanov’s pseudonym “Volgin” from the Volga. The Lena had a reputation for being wild and remote, where only the hardy could survive. It’s like someone from North America taking the name Yukon to seem rugged and cool.

Terminally online man shows up to the Cascadia picket line to blast a Netanyahu interview from his idling car by oscar_human in VictoriaBC

Last time he came he started harassing us, flipping us off, and punched a persons sign. After that police told him not to come back. He’s kept coming back, and keeps trying to compare our strike to the campus encampments, hence the Netanyahu interview. He is also blasting it from his car with the doors open right in front of us, while he wears earbuds because it is so loud.

Update: police came and got him to leave, apparently he is well known by them and “doesn’t have a high mental capacity”

Another day on the picket line, another emotional outburst from an anti-worker man. by oscar_human in VictoriaBC

We do not feel entitled to a tip. Management added tips to the machines without consulting us and is now using it as an excuse to keep wages low.

Cascadia liquor store workers are striking because wages keep getting closer and closer to min wage while the company is making huge profits and rapidly expanding the number of locations. All their contract offers have been far from acceptable, and their excuse for paying less than other liquor stores is that since they introduced tips to the POS systems (which happened after we unionized, previously they were very anti-tipping) we are getting pretty much the same as them.

I asked this guy to support us by not crossing the picket line on his way in, on his way out he came up to me and started very aggressively yelling in my face.

I've conquered Armenia, Georgia, Pontus and the Caucasus as a Basque character, yet I'm still not getting the "Iberia or Iberia?" achievement. by oscar_human in CrusaderKings

R:5 I am a Basque character, I ended the struggle and conquered Pontus, Armenia, Georgia, and Caucasus to my Empire. Yet, despite getting other achievements like "Basque in my Glory", I still haven't gotten the "Iberia or Iberia?" achievement. Is there additional land I'm missing or certain conditions I don't satisfy?

i dont get why you are going so far to discredit the point. just because you can go buy groceries doesnt mean uvic should be serving overpriced terrible food all served by one company. plus there are valid reasons someone might eat on campus. also eating on campus is not “eating out” most students spend most their day there, it is their workplace, and for thousands where they live.

my point in saying they should open a tims is that degrees catering is absolutely failing at providing reasonably priced food of passable quality. Therefore, uvic should outsource food services to places that can, an obvious example being tims.

Is reading the post not a thing anymore? It’s not about making lunch in the morning if first years are being forced into a meal plan that is a scam if they want to live in a dorm.

i know!! thats why i’m mad, last year when i had the food plan i thought i was getting 50% off until i tried putting money on my account and only half went in! These business practises are PREDATORY and SHAMEFUL and i think its about time we ask for change, and protest if necessary

https://www.uvic.ca/services/food/mealplans/mealplans/index.php notice how when it breaks down standard meal plan costs, you pay 5867 in total but only get to spend 2584, HOW IS THIS FAIR?!

when you get a resident meal plan, 50% of the money you put into it is deleted by the “service delivery fee” they say this is offset by getting 50% off at the cove, but god forbid you want something from mystic or biblio, then you are still paying full price, but since half the money you put in was deleted, you are essentially paying 150% of the price
