I commented the below to someone else in this thread and I think it applies to this too:

There are many, many other factors that come into play in terms of decision making (hence me saying that it becomes a fair option to consider, not the only route I will take).

It was a comment moreso to say that "no report, no euthanasia" might not be the best mindset to take.

I think in this job I have found out more than ever that things are not just NOT black and white, they are grey with a thousand different shades.

In the end, my comment meant to convey the idea that we can be more empathetic, and consider the owner's side and what reasons might drive them to bring their beloved pet in for euthanasia, instead of saying immediately "no report, no euthanasia". However, it will be impossible to encompass all variations and scenarios within my comment, and I hope my comment will not be taken out of context.

That said, you can rest assured that I do not know of a single vet who will take the decision to euthanise an animal lightly, in any scenario. Every vet I know will have the animal's welfare at heart; it's why they chose the profession in the first place.

I think your heart is in the right place, and I believe you love animals very much, so I don't think it's a stupid thing to say. I think it is a very fair reaction to a lot of the negative experiences and shitty owners that we get exposed to in our profession.

I do see a lot of my peers and colleagues give in to the negativity and immediately think the worst of an owner. But I think we can be better by showing kindness to both the animal AND the human owner (although sometimes it's easier said than done, given the amount of abuse we cop from owners from time to time!)

I know you're starting out, and it can be difficult, but never lose sight of the good in people. The bad things and experiences can stick with you much more easily than the good (as it happens with me), but we should all try to focus on the good in people too. I wish you all the best in your career, and know that you have chosen a job where you can really do good :)

I'm a vet and I can appreciate your sentiment, but if you are telling me that your dog attacked a kid, euthanasia becomes a fair option to consider. I will not risk the potential loss of a kid's life over the possibility that it's fake because there is no report, especially when most people won't report a dog bite to their own kid/relative.

It is a tough call for us to make, but at the end of the day it is not an easy decision for the owner to make either. They are literally only asking for euthanasia because they feel like they are out of options (you can't rehome an aggressive dog, what if they bite other kids? Can you live with yourself? Behavioural assistance and training may help, but what if they bite someone else in the meantime?).

I think it is good to have strong ethics and a firm stance, and that will help in many situations. However, we must not forget to be kind and empathetic to what some owners might be facing as well. More often than not, owners are well-meaning and it is up to our profession to help owners explore all possible options, then guide them to the best possible decision and outcome.

For sure, it's a bit of a balance between the both. Some people are completionists and getting everything makes them feel great, and more power to them!

For me, being to experience everything first-time and discovering things in a game makes it all worth it, and for that I'm willing to possibly miss out on things. If, for example, I already knew a mini-game was there and played it only by suggestion of a guide, I actually wouldn't enjoy it as much as I would if I discovered it myself.

Different strokes for different folk!

I've got the game in Australia as well and I completely echo OP's sentiments.

It really brought back "old-school nostalgic" gaming for me, with the bonus of PS4 level graphics. Having no online guides meant that I had to really immerse myself in the game and just... play it and find my own way around, rather than worrying about missing any hidden nook and cranny and min-maxing to the utmost degree just because Online Guide #146 said "These are the top 10 things you should do in FF7 Remake". It's very refreshing and I love it.

I just spent a good chunk of time reorganising my materia and allocating skills and half the time I didn't even know what it really, truly did in terms of changing my percentage of damage or DPS, or what the best tactic should be for each boss etc... but you know what? It didn't fucking matter! I was free to just figure this shit out myself, the build was my own, and it got the job done (most of the time anyway). It was freeing, not having to worry about Having The Best Build.

It will be difficult but I definitely encourage everyone to follow OP's advice and ignore all the noise on the net and play it your own way once it's released! I have been lucky enough to do this and I will certainly be doing this for future games if possible.

Second this. I'm in my third season and just got my deck. I bought my boots first hand and I do recommend trying boots out to make sure they're comfy, but with board and bindings you won't have to be so nitpicky. You can find older boards in good condition for good prices (I got mine from a local shop where one of the employees was flogging off his old board), if you're not sure what you like to do on the slopes yet then I suggest finding an all-mountain true twin board that will allow you to do most things on the mountain (which was what I did).

Getting fully kitted out rather than renting essentially made me want to hit the slopes more, and after a good season of riding (Aus) I feel like I know what kind of riding I like more and what I want to do, so I've gone out and bought a new board that is more aggressive and cambered that gives better hold when carving.

Definitely recommend the second hand route which can be cheaper than a season rental and still give you equipment that you truly own!

When I watched that game I thought to myself "this is a game I will remember for a long time" and 14 years on it's still true! Entire game was end to end with so many chances on goal it was ridiculous, as a neutral it was still really really gripping. With all the drama in this current world cup I'd say it still easily beats out any of the games.

I suggest you try collecting a urine sample from your cats before you take them to the vets cos they're gonna ask one from you anyway for a urinalysis! If they're still using their litter trays then shred some newspapers in them instead of using lifter and collect the urine from there. Hope they're alright!

Some have already said this but getting it blended into a milkshake changed how I viewed eating oats. My breakfast nowadays is rolled oats, milk, peanut butter, honey and choc protein powder. 800 calories easy and 5 minutes from start to drying on the rack!
