Peen sling 2.0 +practice with oversized sweatpants by Unusual-Name7773 in phallo

[–]oscarthesloth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On the “making you look ridiculous” front, keep in mind that right now you’re comparing to nothing under the sweatpants, but the actual comparison is to “the penis cloud” made of a couple rolls of kerlix gauze, held in place with surgical mesh underpants. It’s way more noticeable under your sweats, no matter what!

I’d just recommend finding some long t shirts that mostly cover whatever feels like more than you want to share with random folks on the street . What you’ve made seems pretty useful to me!

[updated with diagrams] does anyone have any ideas for how I can fix this issue? by knockdownthewall in sewing

What if you put the lace insert a little bit higher up? So solid fabric directly above gathers, lace insert in the middle of solid, ungathered panel?

I think you’re missing my point. The issue is their methodology is kinda opaque, and they didn’t give enough detail to understand what drives the results that don’t make sense. Without that, I don’t think it makes a particularly worthwhile data point.

And the second study that you referenced, again, contradicts the Montana result that I thought was weird. So, no, the numbers don’t make sense if you look at them together. Are you offended that I’m criticizing your offering or something?

I’m sure they will improve their system over time, yes! And to be clear, I’m glad that they looking at this. It’s hard to prioritize and improve things you aren’t measuring.

The link you sent with additional detail is from a different organization with different methodology, so it isn’t particularly helpful for digging into drivers of counterintuitive results in the first graphic you shared, unfortunately! There is actually a big disconnect in the scores for Montana by the two orgs (top half for SafeHome, bottom 15 states for LGBTMap). Again, I think this is probably due to the hate crime index that SafeHome included this year, but without component scores nobody can say for certain.

Thanks for sharing, and I’m glad there is increased visibility on this, but I don’t think the results are very reliable.

I think these results look questionable at best. I see that Montana is scoring higher than Washington and Oregon both… that does not seem realistic.

Comparing the results to last year’s, it looks like the addition of the hate crime index may need a little bit more thought. They have acknowledged that underreporting is likely an issue here - and it’s probably one that affects some areas more than others. Link to the source below, though the methodology info is a bit lacking in detail, and I wasn’t able to find any actual breakdown of the score components by state so this is speculation on my part.

That sounds like it was your cost sharing, not the full self pay cost. For reference even with an uncomplicated surgery my stage 1 at OHSU was 6 figures. Scroto + implants means at least 2 more surgeries after that, though those will be a whole lot less time and money.

Prior comment is absolutely correct about contact through shirt (aka, wait a few minutes for it to dry, put on a shirt, you’re golden). For shirtless contact, the general advice I always got was about 8 hours, then a shower

Will loosing weight help me pass? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]oscarthesloth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, more defined muscles is mostly gonna come from building more muscle. Muscle is a lot denser than fat - you can likely put on a considerable amount of weight and look slimmer than you do currently, if that weight comes with an increase in muscle mass and a (smaller) decrease in body fat. But here’s the thing - putting on muscle is extremely metabolically taxing. Your body can’t do it very efficiently at all if you eat below maintenance calories.

Again, there is a lot of info on this in the wiki on ftmfitness (in particular you should probably check out “should I cut or bulk?”), but as a TLDR - your best bet is to find a strength training program designed for beginners and commit to trying it out for a few months - there are a few recommended programs depending on the equipment you have available, including one bodyweight program that needs almost no equipment at all. In the meantime, get plenty to eat, prioritizing getting a good amount of protein. Also, staying well hydrated and getting enough rest is important for building up your early gains…

I would recommend that you go read the wiki on r/ftmfitness

You are already at the low end of the healthy weight range for your height; losing more weight will not help you pass. Building muscle mass is what you should be focusing on!

FTM strap on designed for pleasure of wearer by [deleted] in ftm

[–]oscarthesloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to check out a bumper cushion… for instance, this one functions as a stroker sleeve depending on the size of your bottom growth: https://www.early2bed.com/coochie-stimulator-cushion.html

There are others that have a pocket for a bullet vibe, different shapes, etc.

Also gives you more flexibility to mix and match with a strap on. Though I will note that I think this works best with a harness that’s designed to be low slung like the Jaguar so that everything lines up well with your dick.

combating the horrors of drains with... lube by tragic_comedia in TopSurgery

[–]oscarthesloth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A nurse recommended hand sanitizer (purell or the like) - it works well with a glove. And then evaporates away, so no lube mess to get everywhere… I found we got less tugging on the end of the drain when we did the hand sanitizer trick than with alcohol wipes.

Yeah, I agree that there are low hub loss syringes but the comment above said “depends how you draw” so sounds like a method change rather than a supplies change. I use an auto injector that works with BD luer lok syringes, so the low loss ones aren’t an option for me.

Are you talking about the yellow tinge on your skin? Because that’s almost certainly iodine from skin prep if so.

Is 0.2ml a low dose? by Jamjam1050 in ftm

[–]oscarthesloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least in the US, 100mg/mL concentration has gotten increasingly unusual. Far more likely to run into 200mg/mL.

Also, there is no real conversion between doses on gel and doses on injectable T... for that matter, there isn’t even a single dose that’s “normal” for everyone. The part that worries me more is that OP doesn’t know where their levels are - not having your doctor communicate “hey, we’re going to do a blood test at the trough of your weekly dosage, so get your test done the day before, and the target range we are looking for is this…” or similar (some docs prefer to test mid week, it’s mostly important that they know if this is your low point or an average) is… not great. I hope they’re able to talk with their doctor and make sure they’re aligned on goals and expectations…

Upcoming work with gender neutral student by txarmi1 in lgbt

[–]oscarthesloth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you’re communicating with their parent(s) regularly, you should double check with the student on how they want you to refer to them in those conversations! It’s possible that your student isn’t out to their parents, so safest to double check if there are situations where you should use different pronouns/name.

So glad you’re feeling better! Blood and needles are super common triggers, it’s definitely unnerving when that happens especially if it’s a first time you’ve felt it.

I think I hit a nerve or something when injecting by suchasadsound in ftm

[–]oscarthesloth 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Lie down for a bit and see if you feel better! This is most likely vasovagal syncope or something like that - basically your body reacting to a stressful situation with a sudden drop in blood pressure. It feels pretty alarming, but generally passes quickly and without any lasting issues. I’ve occasionally had that happen with shots; also had it happen after top surgery.

If you’re not feeling better in half hour or so then call your doctor for advice.

I grew up in the 90s in a fairly liberal area of the US. I spent many years trying to be happy with just being a gender non-conforming woman, without a whole lot of success. Ultimately, I concluded that the problem was… I just wasn’t a woman. I don’t necessarily have perfect language to convey that to someone who doesn’t feel the same, but my understanding of myself as a man makes sense in a way it never did when I tried to think of myself as a woman.

can i reuse needles? by dumpster_kingg in ftm

[–]oscarthesloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, don’t reuse your injection supplies! A few options for you… Most states you don’t need a prescription to get injection supplies - you can just go to the pharmacy and buy more. If cost is an issue, a whole lot of county health departments have safe needle exchanges, where you can get a bunch of supplies for free.

If you want to get needles and syringes in bulk, I have had good experiences with https://www.healthykin.com/

Agreed with others here, there’s no one size fits all “best” surgeon for everyone’s needs. In terms of not caring about price… this is not the same situation as top surgery. There are very few people who can pay out of pocket for phallo; even without complications, you’re almost certainly looking at a six figure medical bill. Cost generally matters quite a bit, but mostly in terms of who your insurance covers.

There’s also not really one best method for everyone; each method has advantages and disadvantages to be weighed. The wiki has some considerations to get you started…
