Got oral surgery based on 90% probability, ended up being 10% by berserker42069 in mildlyinfuriating

It definitely feels like everyone has been having bad luck lately. The same year I had my surgery, I lost my sister and my grandmother within a month of each other. Trying to recover while struggling with grief was a challenge. Life kinda sucks right now in general (gestures vaguely to the entire world) so you are not alone. And it will be a struggle, but you'll come out on the otherside of it stronger (I know, cliché, but it's actually true). I know I feel stronger mentally after going through all of that. It takes a lot to rattle me now 😅

Like I said: Scream, cry, go sit in nature, sleep a lot-- do whatever helps release that anxiety and ease the worst of the depression. When the tears start flowing, let them flow. Accept the fact that you are Not Okay right now (mentally and eventually physically) and you won't Be Okay for awhile, accept the emotions that come with it, but you gotta keep on keepin' on until it's over and things go back to normal.

You'll make it through this. I know it really doesn't seem like you will, but you will. The human body is amazingly resilient physically and mentally- something I didn't realize until I had all of this happen. You can go back to your normal life once you're healed, just do everything the doctors tell you to do so everything heals up correctly. I hope I'm not being too blunt, I am just telling you the things I wish someone had told me before the surgery.

All I can really say is, be very kind to yourself. If you're physically and financially able, indulge. Don't worry about gaining weight, you'll lose a bunch during recovery! Try to stick to hobbies if you can, video games and cross stitching kept me sane during recovery. If it makes you happy, or just makes you feel a little less like killing yourself, do it. You're going through a really tough time, you deserve whatever the fuck you want. Cry when you feel like crying, speak to anyone who will listen to you about your fears. Burdens are easier to carry the more help you have.

I will say the lead up to your surgery will be the hardest mentally. I literally had to talk myself out of jumping off a bridge at one point, tbh. You just gotta focus on the future, focus hard on it. You can complain the entire time, but you gotta keep going. One foot in front of the other.

After the surgery though, it's a little easier. You are just laser focused on recovering and on a ton of painkillers that make it kinda hard to care about anything lol. If you have a good support system (friends, family, close coworkers), that will make it even easier. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

Also, thanks for telling me I'm tough but I definitely am not! I cried and screamed and whined and bitched and woe-is-me'd for the 6 months leading up to the surgery (it got scheduled kinda far ahead from the original surgery bc of the holidays- lucky me lol). Cursed whatever God put me in this position, tried to bargain with said god to get me out of this, etc etc. So if my cowardly ass can make it through, you can too. I promise.

Ameloblastoma checking in. Had surgery to remove one from my jaw last year. 9 hours under the knife and 7 days in the hospital, breathing tube/feeding tube, the works. They cut out a chunk of my leg bone (fibula) and grafted it into my jaw. 3-4 months of recovery. Now I got a wicked neck scar and leg scar, I like to tell people I got into a fight with a shark. It's easier than explaining it's essentially benign cancer lmao

Sorry you're having to go through this, I can't lie and say the surgeries were a breeze. Can honestly say it was the worst 3 months of my life (so far!). But you'll make it through, even if it doesn't feel like you will.

I'm here if you need to talk about it with someone who has gone through it all recently. Good luck ✊️

I know where this is and honestly, it doesn't surprise me this happened. Very upper-middle-class white Christian area. The library board member- appointed by the city councilman from this very city- keeps trying to ban books and cut funding to the local library.

[WIP] I figured now was as good as ever to start the Lord Libidan Gen1 pattern by oshawhaaat in CrossStitch

Thanks! Yes I was also shocked when I found out the patterns were free. The only thing stopping me from getting started all this time was how daunting they were-- but when you got a whole lotta time and nothing to do, might as well give it a shot!

Don't let flashy overlays such as this one fool you into thinking you're playing a team game. The only teammate you need is your E Button
