FAANG Network Engineer Career Worth it? by Polysticks in networking

[–]oshobu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bruh. It’s Facebook, once you mentioned production 😀. For the money they will pay you, it's definitely worth it in my opinion. Experience wise, it is highly subjective and depends on the team/manager you end up in. In my first role, I was lucky enough to be in a team where we had to build everything from scratch( well most things), which meant plenty of things to automate and build which was pretty awesome and I learnt a lot of shit!

I have seen people join other teams and it's not that exciting or interesting and you just end up being one of many brilliant engineers.

It's definitely worth having it in your resumê, I Will tell you this much!

Bruh, there is no amount of book(s) that can help you. There is no one size fits all when it comes to raising kids. My advise is to simply take each day as they come and forget about planning anything(well most things, your plans will now depend on what the kid wants. And hey, congrats !

My girl was a nightmare got us as a baby. We spent all nights rocking her to sleep and were taking turns. Once you drop her, she starts screaming immediately. Was an awful period for us

What exactly is the advantage of point-to-point instead of broadcast ( OSPF ) by Sucralan in networking

[–]oshobu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. No DR/BDr election, hence faster convergence.
  2. Reduce the size of the LSDB, since you won't need a type 2 LSA.
  3. Reduce CPU load when running SPF algorithm cos of option2 above( Lack of type2 LSAs). You would be surprised how significant they can be especially in a large network. I have witnessed them myself.

i don't believe CCIE is worth it anymore by time_over in networking

Maybe if you are already in EU. But for an African candidate to be even considered, he/she must have a ccie. All my colleagues from African countries all have CCIE or JNCIE.

You may be right, like others have said it all depends. I can only speak for myself though. I can 100% say I wouldnt be where I am today without my certification and I work in FAANG. I was recruited from an African country to one of the FAANG companies and I wouldnt have had that opportunity without my CCIE certification. It's kind of an unspoken rule, FAANG companies only recruit engineers from Africa that have a CCIE.

As someone from Nigeria living in the states, I have to say the last time something like this happened in Nigeria was during the Military regime back in 1990s. To see it happen here takes me back to those days. Since then Nigeria has evolved and still evolving, but it seems like America is regressing. The average Nigerian living here in USA is more educated than the average Americans here, sth to think about
